I have never had this happen to us. Not even when we were using www.time4learing.com, my son said that was fun and he enjoyed it but he only would do it during school time. Well we started Headsprout about a week or so ago. Biggun has really been enjoying this program. He laughs and giggles all the way into it.
He has been enjoying a art class w/ Berry Stebbing this week. (more details in another post) Well this class is from 9 till about noon. Biggun has been riding w/ Ms. D and her kids then going back to their house in the afternoon to play. With that said there has not been much school done. Ms. D has requested I send a Math worksheet for Biggun to do while her kids do their Math. But that is it.
Both Monday and Tuesday Biggun has sat down after dinner and done 2 episodes of Headsprout. All I did was mention that he 'could' do his reading. He replies w/ ok. We set up the computer and off he goes. Both nights he has volunteered to move on to a 2nd episode.
Hi, I love your blog and think you are doing an awesome job.I have seen how concerned you are about your son's reading and writing.I have a few suggesrions. With his writing, have him do copywork.Where he copies a section from a book. It can be any book, like a topic you are studying, a poem, or the Bible. Also, when you want him to write something of his own, first have num dictate it to yu, then he copies it from that. As he ptactices more ans more of this he will get better. As for reading, have him try the step readers, probably step 2. They are cute stories, and easy to read; this will boost his confidence in reading. You can buy them in lots real cheap at ebay, or at most book stores.Theyt have a set of arly chapter books that you can get for when he has mastered the step books. My son loved the Jigsaw Jones books.I hope this helps. Leena
