REVIEW: SpellQuizzer

Photobucket

Photobucket

We usually do our spelling during our regular "school time", then any words that were missed and needed more work on are written five times in their notebook for extra practice.  With SpellQuizzer, they not only WANT to work on the words they've missed, it is helping them practice and learn the words easily and quickly!

Photobucket

SpellQuizzer is an incredibly simple program and can be used with virtually any spelling program you are currently using!  You pick what words your child needs to work on. Then you enter the words by recording them with the use of a microphone (I found one under $10 at our WalMart).  There are also many wonderful word lists that SpellQuizzer offers on their site for free download.  If you don't have a microphone you can enter fun hints for the word being spelled!  We had a lot of fun with this option, some pretty silly clues!

Photobucket

SpellQuizzer is $29.95, and is a received as a download.  They also offer a 30 day FREE trial!  The download and installation was very simple.  They also offer video demonstrations that make it even more clear!

My children don't do much of their school on the computer, so this program has been a fun break for them!  It is giving much needed reinforcement for words that they need some extra work on.  I would highly recommend SpellQuizzer!!

Happy Spelling!

REVIEW: Artistic Pursuits

&Photobucket

Photobucket

I think I've mentioned this before in a past review, but I really have struggled with teaching art!   Although I absolutely love art, it seems that it is one of the topics that gets left out when there is a lot of other things going on!  Artistic Pursuits is the first art full year art curriculum that we've used that focuses on the elements of art and the principles of design (or composition) to teach the student to draw.

Photobucket

The specific book that we received was Grades 4-6, Book One, The Elements Of Art And Composition.  The book is divided into 16 units, each unit being five pages long.  Each unit is further divided into four sections:

~~ Building a Visual Vocabulary (first page of each unit)

~~ American Art Appreciation and History (second and third page of each unit)

~~ Techniques (fourth page of each unit)

~~ Application (fifth page of each unit)

Here are the different topics taught in the book:

 Elements of Art:

~~ Space
~~ Line and Shape
~~ Texture
~~ Value
~~ Form
~~ Form using Value
~~ Local Value
~~ Contrast
~~ The Shapes of Natural Forms
~~ Edges

Composition:

~~ Balance
~~ Rhythm
~~ Overlap
~~ Depth
~~ Proportion, the Face
~~ Movement

The units are simple to follow and clearly laid out.  The thing that I absolutely love is my daughter is able to literally pick this book up and do it all herself!  It seems (and maybe this is why, sadly, art gets left out at our house most of the time!) that there is so much prep-time that needs to be by Mom with most art curriculums!  This curriculum is definitely teacher/student friendly!  To view a sample of Unit 2 from this book, please go HERE.

The art supplies needed are minimal.  They are all listed at the front of the book under what unit they will be needed in.  Love it!  No surprises for Mom!  Most of the supplies needed were pretty basic, there were only a couple of things I had to pick up.

Artistic Pursuits has books for every level, from preschool to senior high level.  Each of their books are $42.95.  I might tend to think that the price was a little spendy, but now that I've seen this curriculum, I have to say it is a very in-depth program, and the knowledge gained would definitely be worth it (especially if your student is artistically inclined.)  Also, this is a non-consumable book, so if you a few children that will use it, I'd say it is definitely justified!

Happy drawing!

A Great Big THANK YOU, Kim!!!!

I just have to take a moment here and thank my friend Kim, another adoptive Mom, that put so much time and effort into helping me create the Denice's Creations site (check out the button on the side!!).  We even have opposite tastes (I hate symmetry, she breaks out in hives if it's NOT symmetrical!!! LOL!!!) I can't tell you how many times I would go back to her and say, "well, how about a little more on the left, and how about you change this." I felt horrible!! :-) But in the end it turned out exactly how I had in mind!! She did a fabulous job!

THANK YOU KIM!!!

If you'd like to help support her, she is designing sites to help raise money to bring their two children with them when they travel to Russia to adopt their sweet baby girl! Please check out the side tab, or go to Blogs by Kim to check out what she's done and hopefully personalize your own blog!!

Again, thanks Kim! (How are those hives coming along??!! LOL!!!)

REVIEW: Before Five In A Row

Photobucket

Photobucket

I was SO excited to receive this item to review!  I had used Before Five In A Row with my older daughter when she was young and thought it would be a great thing to pull out to use with our youngest daughter, but when I went to look for it this past Fall, I couldn't find mine (I think I loaned it out!)  So I was thrilled to be able to have it once again!

Five In A Row (FIAR) is a pretty well known company throughout the homeschool world.  They are known for their wonderful literature based curriculum.  The author, Jane Claire Lambert, has over 17 years of homeschool experience. FIAR is made up of wonderful in-depth, step-by-step lesson plans that incorporate bible, social studies, language arts, art, applied math, history, geography and science in such a natural, fun way for the student to learn.  It is extremely flexible, and most books used in the different FIAR books can be easily found at the library.  There are four different levels:

Photobucket

The specific book that we reviewed was the Before Five In A Row and is based on many classic childhood favorites.  Ana loves the book Corduroy, so naturally, we started with that.  We discussed Proverbs 17:17 and what makes a good friend, manners, homes and habitats, found different animals in the illustrations in Corduroy, did some grouping with different colored buttons, and counted beds and lamps pictured on pages 14-15 in the book.  Two things she loves most is doing "her" school and being read to.  Before Five In A Row  makes it so easy for me to read her favorite books to her, then move right into fun learning opportunities with her based on the book we've just read.  Before Five In A Row's activities are easy and so well laid out, there is very little prep time for me.

FIAR also offers digital resources to make the learning even more fun!  Many crafts, activities, games and lapbooks can be found for different books being used in the different volumes (which we will be utilizing!).  You can order any of the FIAR books directly from their website.  Their website also has some great resources as well as a message forum to learn more and discuss the products with other homeschool moms.

 Happy reading!

REVIEW: Friendly Chemistry

Photobucket

Photobucket

I grew up in a home where my dad was a chemist and a biologist.  My parents even owned a laboratory!!  I'm sure that my poor parents were a bit disappointed when I did horribly in high school chemistry!!  I tried, but I just was not scientifically inclined!

So, now that I have junior and high school level students that really need chemistry, I've been a bit nervous, to say the least!  Most of the chemistry courses we've looked into have been boring, straight from the text book type learning (and I just am not too in to that, neither are my children!)

So when we were asked if we would like to review Friendly Chemistry, I went straight to their website to see if this was another "boring text book" curriculum.  When I visited their website, it was nothing fancy, but what I read certainly sparked my curiosity!  This definitely looked like it was anything BUT boring!!  So I excitedly said, "Yes!  We'd love to use this!"

I have to say, we weren't disappointed when it arrived.  We received two binders, one for student and one for teacher.  We also received many manipulatives used in games that are played throughout the course to help teach and reinforce the concepts taught.

There are 32 lessons in this course.  They cover everything from atomic theory, quantum mechanics, ion formation, the mole, chemical reactions, and ideal gas laws ~ just to name a handful!!!  Each lesson is short and well planned out.  In the teacher's binder each lesson starts with a detailed lesson plan and teaching tips.  In the student binder, the lesson starts out with a short text to be read, followed by various practice sheets, which are like worksheets, but much more fun!  (Since I really don't care for "worksheets", I think these would more accurately labeled as activity sheets!)  There are also games to be played with each lesson to further help reinforce the concepts being taught.  There are also labs included.  The thing I thought was wonderful was that the labs are all done with safe materials, there are no hazardous chemicals or fancy equipment required!  (That's a huge plus when there are also younger children in the house too!!)  Their theory is that chemistry is found in everything around us so they want their labs to take advantage of  the "chemistry phenomena of everyday life materials."  I love that!  I think it makes everything much more relevant to the student to see real-life application!  To view a sample from the teacher and student text, please go HERE.

The way that Friendly Chemistry is set up would be wonderful to do with a homeschool co-op.  We are not currently involved with a co-op, but I think I just might try to pull this out again when my girls are older and organize a co-op class around this curriculum.

The authors, Joey and Lisa Hajda, are homeschool parents themselves...of 10 children!  Joey has a doctorate degree in veterinary medicine and a masters degree in secondary and higher education curriculum and instruction.  Lisa has a bachelors degree in veterinary science, a masters degree in elementary curriculum and instruction and has completed coursework towards her doctorate in education.  Joey has taught science courses at the middle school and high school levels for over 20 years.  He has also taught at the local community college level.  ~  OK, all I can say is WOW!!!!!  Great credentials!!!

Friendly Chemistry is definitely one of those wonderful curriculums that I would have NEVER probably found if I wasn't on TOS Homeschool Crew.  I am SO thankful that it was something that we reviewed!  The curriculum is nothing fancy or frilly, but the way that this chemistry is taught is so unique!  Anyone with a high schooler, or in junior high for that matter, that needs a chemistry course, really needs to check this out!  I highly recommend it!!!

REVIEW: Cadron Creek ~ Where The Brook And River Meet

Photobucket

Photobucket

When I heard that we were going to be reviewing the unit studies from Cadron Creek, I have to tell you, I was SO excited!!!  I received Where the Brook and River Meet, which is a unit study based upon the Victorian world of Anne (remember, that's Anne with an "e"!!!!) of Green Gables.

Where the Brook and River Meet (WBRM), is geared towards the high school age student (and more likely, female student!), but can easily be adapted for the younger student.  This is a very in-depth unit study, so since my oldest daughter is younger, we have really watered it down.  Even so, we have learned so much and love it!  I am very excited to use this again when my daughter is officially high school level!  I know that this is a curriculum that I will again pull out when our youngest daughter is older as well (Yay for Mom!!  Since I LOVE Anne of Green Gables!!!)

Topic covered include:

~Bible and Bible Memory

~Fine Arts

~Health

~History, Government, Social Studies, and Geography

~Literature and Language Arts

~Occupational Education

To make WBMR a complete high school curriculum, Margie Gray (the author) recommends adding science, math, grammar and Latin (or perhaps another foreign language, but Latin would follow in the classical education that Anne follows in the book.)

The amount of thought and planning that went into WBMR is evident throughout!  The study is divided into 9 units, each unit covering a few chapters of the Anne of Green Gables book.  Each chapter has a detailed Planning GuideAssignment Table, and easy to follow Study Guide.  This study uses many elements from the Classical education method, such as dictation, recitation, memorization, essay writing, as well as field trips, character building topics, and my personal favorite... hands-on projects!!

There are lots of resources listed to help in planning this study, as well as an appendix of resources in the back, to aid in finding the "hard to obtain resources."  Each unit has a quiz and there is a final exam at the end of the study   Thankfully there are answers included for Mom!  There are also Reading Contracts for the subjects of Bible, History, Literature, and Occupational Education.  These are great because it lists the books that would be required for a basic "C" grade, then adds books to be read to earn a "B" and "A" grade.  The student can make a plan for what grade they would like to work towards, sign the bottom (it is a contract, remember!) and keep track of what they've read.

Cadron Creek also has two other wonderful literature-based unit studies, both of which I have used.  One is the Prairie Primer based on the Little House On the Prairie books and is geared towards grades 3-6.  The other unit study is based on C.S. Lewis' Chronicals Of Narnia, called Further Up and Further In, and is written for grades 4-8.  Both of these can easily be adapted towards older or younger students.  We will certainly be watching (and waiting patiently!) for Cadron Creek's upcoming unit study, based on The Endurance expedition to Antarctica!  (Right up our alley, since my husband goes to Antarctica every year for his job!!!)

If you love great literature, and would love to be able to incorperate a year's worth of school based on that great literature, I think you would definitely benefit from checking out Cadron Creek's wonderful unit studies!  We love them!!

REVIEW: Heads Up!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Heads Up! is a company designed to provide expert information and products for struggling learners.  They carry a variety of products to help accommodate various learning styles and strengths.  These products can be incredibly helpful for the student with light sensitivity, dyslexia,  ADHD, or are easily distracted.

"Our goal is to provide materials and information for homeschooling families, occupational therapists, speech therapists, teachers, and specialists who work with children who have developmental delays, learning disabilities, or other special needs. Professionals, as well as parents and families interacting with special needs children, need materials and teaching tips that will be effective in promoting successful learning experiences while reducing frustration for children, teachers, and parents."

I received an assortment of frames and readers to use from Heads Up!  in multiple colors.  I have actually bought overlays in the past to help my dyslexic student, so I was excited to see these.  The colored frames and readers aid in helping the student focus on what they are reading, plus the colors have been shown to help students who may be light sensitive.  Some students seem to respond well to the brighter colors while others find it easier to use the darker colors.

Photobucket

The Heads Up! frames come in two different sizes. The smaller (4"x4 1/2") works well for helping the child focus on the problem at hand, instead of getting overwhelmed by seeing a whole page that needs to be completed. The larger (4"x9") is great for breaking a large page that needs to be read, into a smaller section the student can manage.

Photobucket

The readers seem to be my daughter's favorite.  Not only can it be used to help track what line you are reading, it makes a great bookmark as well!

At only $1.00 a piece, the readers and frames are definitely worth trying out!  Heads Up! also has a huge selection of items that are not only invaluable to families with learning disabilities or special needs, but also a ton of great homeschool products that any homeschooling family could appreciate.  I would encourage you to stop by their site and see everything they have to offer!

A Friend In Need...

I have a friend that has really been on my heart lately.  She and her husband started their adoption process around the same time we did (which was three years ago!).  They didn't get a chance to travel to Kazakhstan until Nov. 2007.  At that time, they went through the "bonding" period with their precious child.  They left Kaz thinking that they would be back in about three weeks to go to court.  They waited an ENTIRE YEAR, Oct. 2008, to go back to go to court.  They were there another four weeks, with delay after delay, and never given a verdict of whether they could adopt their child or not.  They came home, and were given a negative verdict Nov. 2008.  They started the appeal process immediately, and on Dec. 24th, 2008, were given another negative verdict at this next level.  Right now, they are waiting for a Kazakh Supreme Court Hearing date, which could be 2-4 months from now.  They are not alone.  They have been going through this with three other families, that have had the exact same problems with this court/region.  Two of the families had their Supreme Court Hearings last Thursday...they were denied.  That is the end of the line for them, they will never, NEVER be able to bring their precious children home!

I am not only outraged by this, but deeply saddened that something like this can be happening.  I know Kaz is such a corrupt country, but it completely breaks my heart in two knowing that the ones that will truly suffer from this are the innocent children that will never be allowed to go home to their forever families.

I am begging each one of you that reads this, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE pray for my friend's and their sweet innocent child that so deserves to come home to their forever family!!!!!  PLEASE pray for the other family that also has not gotten their verdict yet!!!!!  PLEASE pray for the two families that were denied to bring their children home!!!!!  Even though the court denied allowing them to adopt these children, I know, as only an adoptive mother can know, that they loved those children and considered them THEIR children, and always will...no matter what that judge says!!!  Please also pray for all of the orphans worldwide...there is such a need!!!  I have a feeling that Satan is going to try hard to make it harder and harder for good, loving, Christian families to adopt!!

I thank you for reading this, passing it on to others, and mostly, praying for my friends!  God can bring their child home!!!!  Please pray that He does!!!

Blessings,

REVIEW: Bible Story Songs

Photobucket

Photobucket

Children always respond well to music!  My children have always loved music, and as young children, would dance and sing and have the best time while music was playing!  Even now, my teenagers still love music and can't live without it (although, I could live without their music!!  LOL!!)  Music has always been a great tool to aid in memorization.  We have used songs for bible, math, geography and even grammar, with great results.  I even made up songs to help the kids memorize the days of the week and months of the year when they were little.

So when I received a CD from Bible Story Songs, I was so excited!  This company is, "a music company started by two grannies who discovered that kids can learn about the Bible easily and effectively by singing!"    They have put Bible Stories to catchy rhymes and familiar tunes, as well as completely original songs they have written too.

I received DAVID: Shepherd, Psalmist, Soldier, King!  Let me just say, this is a product that I am SO thankful that I got to review!  David is one of my favorite people in the Bible.  He was an amazing man of God!  This CD is 1 hour long with 31 songs.  The songs teach of his amazing life as a shepherd, the beautiful songs and psalms he wrote, his time as a soldier, and eventually his life as king of Israel.  There are samples of these songs in their website.  You can also view a free lyric sheet for David here.

Photobucket

Bible Story Songs have several different CD's.   Besides David, the titles include:

 ~ The Bible

~ Moses, Vol. 1: The First 80 Years

~ Moses, Vol. 2: The Last 40 Years

~ Moses For Young Singers

~ Matthew, Vol. 1: Chapters 1-8

~ Matthew, Vol. 2: Chapters 9-28

~ Matthew For Young Singers

Bible Story Songs also have extra resources to compliment the different CD's.  They have sheet music, lyric books, and puzzle pages, all in e-book form for immediate download.  The David CD sells for $9.99, plus they have many "bundle" deals for a discount.  The individual songs, as well as the full CD, can also be purchased for your MP3 player at most major music online retailers.

Enjoy!

Prayers Please!

I would just like to ask for prayers today for my sister-in-law (my husband's sister).  Please lift her up as she has some pretty evasive surgery today.  Also, please pray that her recovery is quick and easy, and that if there is any tests done as a result of this surgery, that they will all come back negative.

Thank you SO much!

Birthday Party!

Photobucket

Sunday, we celebrated both Ryan and Ana's birthday by having a dual birthday party!  Ryan's birthday was on the 10th (he was 15) and Ana's birthday was on the 12th (she was 3).   It was a bit of a challenge to have a teenage boy party and a princess party all at the same time!  But it worked!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Ana is very into anything "princess" right now, so of course she had to have a castle cake!!

Photobucket

Ryan is not so much into the whole "princess" thing...so he requested chocolate caramel cheesecake (it's what he requests me to make for him every year!!).  The poor guy doesn't realize that we took this picture with "princess" balloons behind him!!  Oh well!  He was a good sport!

Happy Birthday, Ryan and Ana!!!!!

REVIEW: Math Mammoth

Photobucket

Photobucket

First of all, I unfortunately, am NOT a math person.  In school, I kind of liked it...until I didn't get "it".  Then it was like I would have a mental block, panic and give up.  So I have great sympathy for my poor children, that seem to have inherited some of my math genes, when they sometimes have the same problem.

Over the last few years, I've found that for us, using more than one math curriculum seems to work pretty well.  For years, we primarily used Math-U-See.  I love MUS, but found that sometimes we either needed to have more practice than was given, or we just needed a little change!  We started adding in other math to our repertoire for practice on specific areas of math, which has worked fine, but I still felt as though I just hadn't found the "perfect" supplement.

Until NOW!!!  When we were asked to review Math Mammoth, I thought, "Oh great, another math to throw into our jumble of math we are already using!"  But was I in for a wonderful surprise!!!

The very first thing I was incredibly impressed with was that the creator of Math Mammoth, Maria Miller, was so incredibly helpful in choosing what my children needed!  That customer service is something you don't normally get.

The next thing that I ended up really liking (but didn't know if I would at the time!) was the fact that you can get them in electronic versions.  I have really liked being able to go in and print off only the pages that we will be needing for the week.  This came in very handy for a couple of the books I used with my daughter.  We started her off with Multiplication 1, since I felt she needed more practice in this area.  What was great about having it in e-book form was that the beginning of the book was too basic for her, so I just went further into the book, found where I thought she needed more work, and started printing off there.  Plus, since it's non-consumable, I will be able to use this again when my younger children are at this level.

I really like the way that Math Mammoth uses story problems, lots of different math activities, even puzzles to teach the concept being learned.  I've noticed too, that more advanced concepts like algebra and fractions are being introduced early on, which I feel is a great help to the student so they don't feel overwhelmed later on.  The pages are laid out in such a clean, attractive manner too (the reason I even commented on that was because my daughter noticed it!!  She obviously likes the way the pages look!).

At first glance, there are so many different books to choose from.  Basically, it is divided up into four different sections: (to see the page from the website this was taken from, please go HERE.)

Photobucket

The specific books that we reviewed were:

I knew that the Clock book was below Meg's level, but I felt that she really needed extra practice with telling time ~ you know, the old fashioned way ~ since we live in such a digital world!  Again, the beginning was too easy for her, so I started her about 1/4 of the way into the book.  After the first day, something amazing happened!  She would actually sit down in the afternoon to do the next day's "clock" work!  She loved it!  She flew through it, and now has confidence in her time telling.

Ryan has been doing some review work in the Grade 7A book.  This is part of the Golden Series, and is worksheets only.  It has made me realize that there have been some gaps that maybe he didn't learn everything solidly enough the first time!  It has actually been very good for him to go back and get that extra practice and review.

We will definitely be continuing the use of Math Mammoth in our schooling.  I have loved the freedom to focus on a specific area we need to work on, or the ability to use it as a full curriculum!  The price for the electronic versions are SO affordable.  The Blue Series books e-books only run between $2 - $5.50 a piece!  There are also package deals, to save even more money!

Maria Miller also has some great FREE resources to check out.  One is monthly email newsletter you can subscribe to.  With that, you will receive over 250 math worksheets, sample pages from various books, and also view past volumes of the newsletter.  Also, she has a great site, Homeschool Math, that offers lots of math resources including free worksheets, links to fun math games, math teaching articles, to name a few.

So whether you are looking for some supplemental  math to help strengthen your student's math skills, or a complete math curriculum, I would highly recommend checking out Math Mammoth!!  I don't think you'll be disappointed!

And Today, 3 Years Ago...

Our baby girl, Ana, was born on the other side of the world, to a woman we will never know.

Photobucket

She was born in a rural town in the countryside of Kazakhstan. The Lord knew that day, that our sweet little girl, who was born so far away, was born to be a part of our family!

Photobucket

She had been born into our hearts long before she was born to this world.  We prayed for her every single day, even before she was conceived.  I am continually in awe of how the Lord brought us to her, and I thank Him daily for the journey!!

I pray for that woman on the other side of the world that carried our baby for 9 months, who gave her life.  I pray that she has a small idea of the huge impact that baby, who she gave up for reasons we will never know, has had on our lives, and others as well.  I pray that she knows that baby is loved so incredibly much!

Photobucket

So here's a BIG Happy 3rd  Birthday to you, sweet Ana!!!!!  Your Mommy, Daddy, brothers and sister love you more than you will ever know!!!!!  You have brought more blessings to this family than we even imagined possible!!!

15 Years Ago Today.....

My second baby boy was born!!

Where on earth did the time go???  After several attempts at inducing,  we opted for a C-section.  Thankfully, we had a beautiful, healthy baby boy!  He was born at 11:31, was 9 lbs. 3 oz. (which was nothing after his older brother was 10 lbs. 6 oz!!!) and 20 1/4" long.  He was such a good baby!

And now he's a great teenager!  Taller than both his mom and dad!  (And bigger feet than his father too!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TO YOU!!!

This Cracks Me Up...Everytime!!!

OK, I've seen this before.  It is hilarious!  The first time I saw it just died laughing!  I just found it again on someones blog and watched it for the third time tonight, and laughed just as hard!  It completely  plays on the stereo-types that we homeschoolers sometimes have surrounding them (whether they apply, or not!!!).  Enjoy!!!

Tot School!!!!

Tot School

Yes...I know!  It's been a LONG time since we've posted any of our Tot School activities!!!  It doesn't mean that Ana hasn't done any school, just means Mom hasn't been very good at taking pictures and getting them up on here!  (Primarily, because the computer crashed and I was with it mine for over a month...that didn't help!!!)

Now, my dilemma has been that my husband has had our camera with him for the past three weeks.  He's in the Air Force, so he's been flying around the world (nothing new!).  Our nephew sent us a "Flat Stanley", so my husband took him on a trip with him, but that meant taking our camera as well!  So, this week, I've been using my daughter's camera...and please note, the date on all of the pictures is WRONG!!!  We evidently need to figure out how to change her date on her pictures!  Ooops!

 Photobucket

This week Ana made a Cinderella "tot"-book!  She is fascinated with the "princesses"!  (She even thinks she IS a princess!  Well, we think so too!!!)  I haven't been very creative lately, so I got the idea from someone else (click the Cinderella "tot"-book link above!!), but one of these days soon, we're going to create our own "tot"-book!  I've got lots of ideas!  Here are some pictures of her putting it together:

We also have been working on her colors and shapes.  She loves the Melissa & Doug Shape Sorting Clock.  I love it too!  She can work on her numbers, her shapes, telling time, colors, etc.  Here she is working on the color red and her shapes.

And what would Tot School be without some good old imaginative play time!?!!  She got this wonderful kitchen for Christmas, and plays with it EVERYDAY!  She loves to cook everyone in the house food and serve it to us!!

And then there was a little "fort" time!  She and her "Sissy" made a fort and had a wonderful time playing in there!

In Loving Memory...

One week ago today, we had to say goodbye to our sweet bunny, Rosemary,  that we had for almost 6 years.  She was my daughter Meg's rabbit (and actually, she was a he!  But that's a whole other story!!  You can read about it in this previous post!).  Sadly, we aren't sure it was really "her time".  Two neighborhood dogs literally broke into her hutch and drug her out and ended her life.

She was a wonderful pet and came inside frequently to spend the evening indoors with us!  The kids had litter box trained her and all!!  She will be missed!  And as you can see in the pictures, even our dog and cats will miss her!!

Just In Time For Valentine's Day!!!

Photobucket

As some of you may recall, a while back I posted about a company that my friend, Mary,  is involved with, called SendOutCards.  I just had to post a little more about it!  The company has recently launched a whole new upgraded system!  It's pretty neat!

Right now, through the end of February, Mary is having a drawing for a $50 American Express gift card!  All you have to do to be entered is go to http://www.sendoutcards.com/60933, (which is Mary's page) log in and take the short automated tour (a little man walks you through it!).  That's it!!!  Plus, Mary has set it up so that you can try it yourself by sending out a couple of cards, for FREE!!  How can you go wrong...you get to send out FREE cards, plus you might get a $50 gift card!!  (Not to mention view how cool this program is!).

There are quite a few things that makes these cards so great.  First of all, on an average, it only costs 62 cents per card, which is incredible!  If you've bought a card to send to someone lately from the store, you know they can easily run anywhere from $2-$4!!  PLUS, you can customize these with your own text and photos!  I know how much I love to send out cards, but never seem to have the right one on hand (or have a stamp on hand!!).  And I also know how much I LOVE to receive a card in the mail from a friend!  This really is a great program!

One more thing I want to tell you all about, (and I am COMPLETELY humbled by this!!!) my dear friend Mary has offered that if anyone signs up for the Wholesale or Entrepreneur packages through one of my blogs, she is donating $120 towards our fundraising for our next adoption!!   What a GREAT friend I have!!  I am truly blessed!!!

Now I'm not telling you all of this just so I'll get something out of it!!  LOL!!  I really think this is a neat program, and I really want my friend to succeed!  Plus, I think you will be blessed as well by at least checking it out, sending out a free card or two, and being entered to win the $50 gift card!!  Besides...Valentine's Day is one week from today!  I'm sure you have someone that you'd like to send a card to and tell them that they are special!!
