Oct. 9, 2006 - My Homemaking Journal

Posted in Organization

My Homemaking Journal (I might change name to Keeper of the Home Notebook) has been a work in progress for a long time.  Everything in this notebook (which started out 1" and is now at 3" folder) has been on my heart, in my mind, on my desk for longer then I would like to admit.  I just put it all together in one place. I should say that I was greatly encouraged by Tiany  so that you my friend.

This is the outside cover(front and back)

The 1st section is Schedule

includes - master schedule, goal list, yearly calendar, monthly calendar, and to do list

Master schedule

2nd section is Chores and More

includes - chore checklist, month of meals, recipes to try, table manners, homemade cleaning supplies, master grocery list and project list

3rd section Homeschool Stuff

includes- subject schedule, kids weekly schedule, curriculum planner, course of study, reading lists and my boys curriculum outline

4th section Recipes

this is just where I file recipes I have until I cook them and we like them then I move them to my recipe box

5th section Inspiration

thoughts from others and myself that keep me keeping on. Great to read on a bad day

6th section Phone list and 7th section Medical Information

Great stuff just to have on hand in a place you can find it.

8th section Herbal notes and 9th section My Bible Study

I keep all note (copied or that I have made) on my fav herbs.  In the Bible study section I put pray lists, study notes bible verses to remember.

10th section is Notes

just loose leaf notebook paper for anytime use.

I was inspired by many in this project.  I got forms or just ideas from them so check them out yourself.

Tiany, Raising Godly Tomatoes, Large Family Logistics, Keeping the Home, Organized Home,

Donna , Clean Heart

Thanks to all of you.  When you check out Clean Heart consider the Clean Heart Clean Home Challenge this is the first step in the right direction.

I know this looks like a lot of work, but I really enjoyed it and had fun making everything pretty.  I use this book daily(many times) and I am so glad I have gotten everything together.  I hope this helps you as you step on the road to organizing your Home.

Wow! That looks great!!! It does look like a lot of work but when you enjoy it, it is "fun" work =) You'll have to bring it over when you come for coffee. I love looking at how others get organized.

Not sure if I answered this, but no, Tiany and I don't live near each other. It would be great if she did. I would love to hold her baby when he is born ;)

Blessings,
Linda<><

What a great job you did--it must be great having all that information in such a handy spot. Also, it's to big to go "missing" for very long!

Why if we all had Organizational folders like you we would be SET ! I love how you made it fun to see and it would inspire yourself to get into it everyday. I will hopefully be doing something like this when I get back from Little Bear Wheeler's Adverture Camp. It is only 10 days till we drive away for 15 day trip. Ahhhhh I don't know if I will be ready !

I will have to try my hand at something like this after we get settled back in the new house. I am sure I will need plenty of organization to keep the house neat and orderly.

BTW, would you mind sending us a postcard from the Bahamas too? We would be happy to send you one from Alaska if you want. We are trying to cover as many countries as possible. It is the one project I am allowing us to tackle this year while we are in the apartment. Let me know! Thanks!

You had inspired an idea for me! Instead of writing out all my lesson plans weekly or every two weeks, I just created lesson checklist. So much easier to manager and less time consuming. I've nicknamed you Helpful Heidi. LOL

Love your notebook

I have a much simpler organization notebook (simple in that mine is not as thorough as yours). I keep my homeschool group directory, travel info on upcoming trips, calendars or info on the girls' lessons (piano, ballet), numbers and info on a food co-op I'm in charge of, etc. I used to keep a calendar, but found that I didn't use it in there. I'm not that smart! Ha. So, I have a monthly calendar that sits on my bar by the phone. I have my school stuff in a seperate notebook. Now, if only I'd take the time to detail them more, add more categories, and make mine pretty like you have! Yours is great!

I like your book!! What a great idea. God loves order since, he does everything in perfect order: ) I see you visit Raising Godly Tomatoes and No Greater Joy. My "friend" Tsukayama recommends them too. She has not posted in a while but I am sure she will be back soon. I almost completed reading Train up a Child. They have some good ideas I had not thought of. Thanks for the book idea,

You are amazing! I broke out in a sweat just thinking about all it would take to get me to that point. What an awesome idea! I noticed some Managers Of Their Homes worksheets in there. That's about as orderly as I have managed to be so far. But that in itself is a great system. Way to go!
