Moms of Many Exercise Challenge

It's been a weird last week for me.  I didn't get in much exercise.  I've been extra tired.....I thought I might have been pregnant, but I took a test and it was negative.  In the past, I have done a little reading about Virgin Coconut Oil and remembered that it is supposed to help with energy levels and weight loss.  I went back and read all that again, and decided to go for using the oil as a supplement to see what would happen.  Some people take it straight up and I tried that, and yuck!  I gagged.  ;-)  So I mix mine in a cup of hot chocolate and drink it down in ladylike sips. The crazy thing is that yesterday was probably the worst day for me.  I felt so worn down and tired and had a headache. But after I had tried the oil straight up I noticed about 30 minutes later that I was starting to feel better!  I had more in my hot chocolate later and today I feel SO MUCH better.  So I'm looking forward to getting back into the exercise groove this week.  Don't get me wrong....I'm still not 100% because of the oil, but I do feel a lot better.

I hope you all are having a wonderful Labor Day!  We are doing just that around here - laboring.  ;-)  Lots to do!

Moms of Many Exercise Challenge

I have just a second while the kids have gone out for a bike ride.....am I the biggest freak ever, or am I not the only one whose heart jumps up into their throat when the kids are driving/riding away without me?  They are all so precious.

I've been getting in 30 minutes each day and have been working hard at cutting out sugar in between all the house issues we've been having!  Seems our hot water pipe has busted.  We've got an insurance guy coming to take a peek at our buckling kitchen floor and water soaked cabinets.

Seems there's always something happening around here and Darin and I keep wondering when things will be normal???  These are the times when it's hard to stay consistent with exercise and eating right.

Anyway, I gotta go!  I need to go call my insurance company cause I scraped someone's car in the CVS parking lot yesterday.  ;-)  I would cry, but it's almost too funny.  What could happen next???

So I'm still here, doing my thing. I've been exercising as much as I can, but I just can't seem to find an hour each day.  I'm lucky to get in 30 minutes.  But I'm not going to stop.  I figure it's better than nothing, and maybe if I stay with even this 30 minutes each day, over time it will add up to something meaningful???  Who knows.  But I am sticking with it.  I always feel better after getting myself moving, and Darin exercises with me a lot, and I really enjoy that.  When we were in college, and dating, he used to go to an aerobics class with me two or three times each week.  Found out after we were married that he hated that class......but I guess that means he REALLY loved/loves ME!  sigh.  ;-)

Let me know how your week went!  De'Etta has been traipsing the countryside in Colorado.  What a great trip she's been having with her whole crew together again.

Things are still in the settling down mode around here.  Darin had to work late into the night Monday and Tuesday, but I believe that is officially over!  What a summer this has been.  Wednesday night we had our date night - shoulda been here.  We don't actually go anywhere on our date nights because we can't afford a sitter for 5 kids, so we hang out here at home.  Last Wednesday Darin brought home a movie for us to watch together and I was so festive - I fell asleep!  What a great date.  ;-)

Anywho.....so I didn't get in as much exercise as I wanted to last week.  We also went to birthday celebrations Saturday and Sunday nights.  At this point, I'm figuring something is better than nothing, so I'm not gonna get bitter.  ;-)  Today I have begun a 40 day sugar fast.  Last time I did this I was in college.  I was trying to lose weight that I didn't really need to lose.  Those were the days, my friends.

I look forward to touching base with you guys this week!  Sign-in with Mr. Linky and leave a comment so I'll know you were here.  :-)

Aug. 4, 2008 - Back in the Exercise Challenge Again

What a great song.  Love the oldies and goodies.  And it's a perfect song for me this week cause I am truly back into the exercising groove.  I did plan on just walking one mile every night, for a total of seven miles each week, but the I ran into this link.  Here's the part that got me moving more than I planned: The  study found

that after 2 years women lost an average of 5% of initial weight with no significant difference between the exercise groups. However, about a 25% of women who lost 10% of their initial weight loss reported to exercise an average of 1,835 calories per week, which represent 275 minutes per week. If you divide this amount by five days you get an amount of exercise of 55 minutes per day (5 days a week).

Moms of Many Exercise Challenge

I read it on Friday night, and on Saturday I got started.  I worked out with my Cindy Crawford DVD which is about a 40 minute workout.  Then I did a 2-milk walk with Leslie Sansone, which was 30 minutes.  My legs were sore on Sunday, but I grabbed my husband and we did the 4-mile walk with Leslie, which is about 60 minutes.

It occurred to me that the only two ladies to report any weight loss are doing this kind of exercising.  De'Etta figures her exercising in minutes achieved, and Kristy works out with Leslie Sansone, using her longer walks, which are an hour or more.  So there it is.  We have to move more!  To fit this in, I've had to make a schedule for my evenings and am gonna have to be super-disciplined about it to be able to get the exercise in with all the other chores I have to get to while the kids are in bed.  No more aimless floating around.....I REALLY wanna lose this weight!!!

Man, this blog is quiet!  ;-)  I do think about it every now and then.......hopefully life is about to slow down for us and I'll be able to get back into a groove - you know, actually make a PLAN for my time, rather than just run from one fire to another....

ANYWAY.....With life slowing down at work for my husband, Darin, I am sorta catching back up with a lot of things (no, not laundry) and exercise is one of them.  I walked only a mere 3 miles this past week, but it's certainly better than the last few weeks of nothing!  I am really looking forward to getting back into a routine with it.  Ya know when you're working out and you feel so fit, even if you're not dropping even one pound?  At least I feel that way.  It also goes the opposite way with me.  When I'm not working out I feel extra flabby.  So more than anything, I want to stop feeling that way.  Bleh.

I know we've all been off our normal routines with fun summer stuff going on.  I hope you guys are getting back into your routines with exercise as well!  Sign-in with Mr. Linky and let me know you were here!

Jul. 14, 2008 - Exercise Challenge

Moms of Many Exercise Challenge

It was more of the same for me last week.  My Husband worked and worked and worked.  We are both worn out.  His is a mental worn out while mine is a physical worn out.  I honestly don't know how a single mom gets by.  I did a lot of praying for all the single moms that I know while I was trying to keep up with things.  Goodness knows I have nothing to complain about.  My Husband is wonnnnnnderful.

So while I didn't get to officially exercise, I did make the extra effort to do things that made things more of a challenge.  I took the stairs two at a time, did some vertical crunches.....every time I bent over to pick something up (I think my abs are getting sore ;-).  First and Only Husband thinks this week should be better.  I'm not holding my breath.  We're just gonna have to see.

I hope you guys were able to get more done than me!

Moms of Many Exercise Challenge

Well.  Once again I was unable to exercise this past week.  My Husband worked late every night but our date night.  He does so much to help me out around here.  His absence left a huge load for me!  He has been working so many hours, I know that when he finally finishes, we'll both finally have a nervous breakdown and sleep for an entire week.  HA!  I doubt we'll get any extra sleep, but it will be nice to be back to normal.  Hanging clothes out on the clothesline at 11 at night is for the birds.  So is going to bed without First and Only Husband being here.  Yuck!

So I'm going to see how things go this week.  The big project that he is working on is due on Tuesday.  He already told me he will be working late tonight.  After Tuesday....who knows.  He is a web guy, and will be pre-launching a new website for his company.  After his bosses see what he has done, they'll come back to him with a huge list of things they want to do completely differently from the way they had him do it to begin with (what a cynic!) and he'll need to finish all those changes by a certain date....ya know, it just is what it is.  I would love it if First and Only Husband were here at 5:30 every night.  HA!  What a dream.  ;-)

Anywho, let me know how you did with the Challenge this past week.  :-)  To find out more about this challenge, go HERE.

P.S.  Happy 7th Month to my Little Button!  Don'tcha just want to SQUISH her!?!

And Happy 10th Birthday to my Sweet Girl!

Jun. 30, 2008 - Exercise Challenge

Moms of Many Exercise Challenge

Hey everyone.  I'm sorry I did not get a chance to visit your entries for last week.  It was one of those weeks....Monday night was mine and hubby's date night, Tuesday night I was getting ready for First Daughter's 10TH birthday (first cake was a disaster, 2nd attempt was wonderful), which was on Wednesday.  Wednesday was consumed with celebrating. Thursday, I was recovering (read: crashed on the couch as soon as the kids went to bed), Friday we took a very last minute trip to see Wall-E (it was SO good.  Go see it and take your kids, too.  ;-), and I can't even remember what was going on Saturday night.  eeek!

Needless to say, I did not exercise all week.  I am anxious to get back at it.....Tuesday.  Date night again tonight!  I plan on working out with my Cindy Crawford video this week.  Should be a great week of extreme sore muscles.

My husband and I are throwing the idea of a weight-loss challenge around.  The biggest obstacle is trying to figure out what the winner receives.  I mean, what's his is mine and vice versa, so it feels a bit weird to bet cash.......I'm sure we'll settle on something.  :-)

I'm looking forward to connecting with you all again this week!

Rachel, I am SO going to be looking for you as you get in your exercise walking around town!!!!

Jun. 23, 2008 - Exercise Challenge

Moms of Many Exercise Challenge

I walked 11 1/2 miles last week.  Coulda been more, but this whole process is good for me.  I am one of those impatient people who wants to see results right away.  I want to be able to exercise a lot while keeping up with five children, a husband, and a house that is going through a lot of repair work right now.  It's just not possible.  My first reaction is to chide myself for not working harder for it, but I realize that's unrealistic!  As much as I would like to be SuperGirl, in reality, there is no such thing as SuperGirl.  So this exercising thing has been a great exercise in teaching me to CHILL OUT!  ;-)

If you think of me during the week, say a huge prayer for me and my wee two year old.  We've begun potty training starting this morning.  I pulled out the ol' "if you go potty on the toilet, I"ll give you an M&M" trick.  He didn't get it at first and immediately asked for the candy.  Then when I said he had to make REAL potty on the toilet first, he had a huge meltdown and refused to put his pull-up back on.  He's running around behind me right now with nothing on but his jammy shirt.
