This morning at church, during Sunday School time, Giff taught his first creation/evolution class. He has been working so hard on it for the past few months and it was exciting to finally have it all come together. I was wondering if it would be over my head, but he did a great job teaching it at a level that my little old non-scientific brain could understand.
The things that I loved about that class was the age range of people who attended. There were 12 year olds up to great-grandparents that were there. The class was originally intended for the youth group to counter what they get in the public schools. But in discussing this with Steve (the youth pastor who is also in charge of adult ministries), they thought it would be good to open it up to parents and other adults as well.
I was thinking during the class that maybe he should teach it every 5 years or so in order to give all the highschoolers a good grounding before they go off to college or whatever. Then I was thinking, that maybe somehow some of their friends could come as well. Then Giff was telling me later that Donna asked him if he would consider doing it as an outreach some time, so who knows how many people this could reach.
