- I used to crochet.
- I used to cross-stitch.
- I would still like to try and quilt.

- Due to that we did not have children for many years of our marriage.

- We looked into foster parenting and adoption via the state we lived in.
- We started the adoption process in the Spring of 1995.
- Our first son was born in January 1995.
- But he didn’t join our family until May of 1996.
- Then our next son was born in Sept 1996. Surprise!
- He joined our family in December of 1996.
- We had two sons in less than 8 mos!

- We moved back home in August 2002.
- No job - living with my mom. It was wonderful!
- Joshua died on February 22, 2003.
- He was 8.5 mos old.
- He’d just started to say “Momma”.

- Putting his picture on my blog was a very scary thing to do.
- That picture was taken two weeks before he died. (you'll have to visit my other blog to see the picture)
- I’ve had doctors and the coroner tell us we did nothing wrong, but I still feel guilty.

- But he still loves to preach and teach.
- He is the funniest man I know.
- We are total opposites.
- He likes to be in a crowd…I like to stay home.
- He likes to talk…I like to be quiet.
- But we are a pretty good team.
- Pretty soon I’ll have spent more time married to him than I was single.
- I think that’s something to be proud of!
- I wear emerald earrings everyday as a tribute to Joshua.
- But I want to get a tattoo.
- Or maybe I just want to talk about getting a tattoo.

- All my grandparents are dead.
- We are blessed to live in the same town as my mom and inlaws.
- In fact, we live right next to my inlaws.
- It’s a good thing.
- But we like to call them Marie and Frank (Everyone loves Raymond) to tease them.
- They started it!
- I’ve been collecting teacups for 18 years.
- My Grandma gave me a new one every Christmas for years.
- But I’ve only recently started to drink tea.
- I’m ok with not having any daughters.
- I look forward to Heaven.
Yeah!! I did it!!

May. 19, 2006 True Confessions: I saw the Da Vinci Code
I woke up this morning wondering what, if anything, I would share about last night. I went to a prescreening of "The Da Vinci Code" with my friend Ruth after she won free tickets.
Let me back up and explain....I haven't read the book. I haven't wanted to read the book. And, I love books. But I just never had any interest in this book - before or after the controversy started. We even had a Sunday School on the book/movie and the heresy contained - but Eric and I couldn't go, and we thought no biggie - we don't care to read/see the book anyway. But we were surrounded with it! The school where Eric teaches was providing booklets to educate the parents about the heresy. The church where we used to attend is showing some sort of video in June to which we were invited. And, of course, I mentioned that our own church had taken time out of it's series on theology to explain the heresy.
But, then Ruth called and she had won tickets and would I like to go...I admit I agreed more out of a desire to have a girls night out than a desire to see the movie. But we went and it was good! I wish I had read the book because books are ALWAYS better than movies and this was a good story.
And, as far as the heresy - well, I can't wait to open the theology and history books that we have (and believe me we have TONS) and read the truth. I feel the same way about this movie as I did about "National Treasure" - it was highly entertaining and I can't wait to read the REAL history.
Would I recommend anyone else go? Well, that's your decision. As far as the heresy...I think it will open a door for some great discussions. However, there is a couple of scenes involving a monk that were VERY graphic. My friend and I were both looking away for those scenes. I think they could have done without them!
I'm glad I didn't pay for the movie - but it was an entertaining evening with a friend. And I look forward to some great conversations with my DH and others after they view the movie.

May. 10, 2006 Like Socks? Want More? Want to play??
My stepmom sent me a fun letter about socks and I want to play! The way to play - you need to send one pair of socks to the first person on the list and then mail the letter to 5 new people. Then those 5 people will send out the letter to 5 people each and you will get 25 pairs of socks!! All for the cost of 1 pair of socks and 5 stamps! I want to do this - but between my stepmom, my sister-in-law and my sister - I'm not sure to whom I could send it!
So, I thought - blogdom!!! If you want to play, please email me and give me your mailing address! If there are more than 5 people who want to play, I'll have to pick the first 5. (Or maybe we could start a second list) If you have questions, just drop me a note or comment!
C'mon - let's play!!

About Me

Day by Day....we strive to learn together, love each other and have some fun.
Day By Day.... we strive to raise our boys to be knights and warriors for the Lord.
Some days it's a struggle...
Cast of Charaters
Me - I like to read and knit. I've been a Christian for many years and
loving learning about God and seeing the Lord work in our lives! I also post on my other blog,
"Journaling Back To Joy"
DH - Is a theologically trained teacher of 4th graders at a Christian school.
He loves astronomy, LOTR and playing with the kids! He is the funniest man I know.
J1 - 12 - our oldest. He came to live with us when he was 16 mos old and completely turned
our lives inside out! While he is struggling with self-control right now - he is the
one who can brighten the room just by smiling! He loves creating things from our recycling
and anything that allows him to move (trampoline, skateboards, inline skates, etc)
J2 - 11 - our middle son. He is the one who I am currently homeschooling. He loves to create things
from Legos and he loves movies. He would watch movies all day if I let him :( He has just had a major
breakthrough in reading - for which we are praising the Lord!
J3 - 6 - my joy. He has a very tender heart for me and really works hard to make me happy. He loves
to cuddle and is just learning about Legos. He wants to be with his big brothers so much, but the age
difference is a big hurdle right now.
Joshie - 5/29/02 - 2/22/03 - Our surprise! Our only pregnancy that the Lord allowed - and we were blessed
to have him for those short mos. We are all still grieving his loss - you'll hear alot about that from time
to time. We look forward to getting to know him someday.
