My hubby got hurt at work over 6 months ago. Well we had to get a new lawyer due to the other lawyer health issues. So we are hoping the new lawyer gets better results then the other lawyer. We also have two Dr. Appointments monday and tuesday in Memphis Tn. Which of course is over 300 miles away from us.
I am starting the love dare challenge. I will work on showing the love for my husband. I am going to post once a week to show what I have accomplished and what I need to accomplish. So the should be a fun and interesting journey that I should have not only a closer walk with God but with my husband. So let the challenge begin.
Well we had alot of stuff going on this week. We had our regular school work. Then we went on an field trip Thursday to Reelfoot Lake TN to Nature Station. We still did math and Bible before we went. We then went to the annual BBQ on the River in Paducah Ky. Then we spent time at hospital they thought my grandfather had an heart attack but he was just having side effects of one his medicines so that awesome. So that was our weekend. Then of course tomorrow is my birthday.
We are of course still waiting for the next Dr. Appointment for hubby.
We are in week 8 but are at week 7 school work. We had several things to pop up. We had a doctor appointment three hours a way. We had a holiday to pop in.
We also had trouble with the math. We are right now trying to work on straight math facts. I wish there is a perfect math program out there that would just click. So right now we are working on addition and subtraction problems only.
History is going pretty good. We are right now at American indians. We are setting in American Indians for the next three weeks to learn more about them and how they lived. We are reading Kaya: American girl. I have several things planned on doing and once we do them I will post pictures.
English, Spelling are going pretty good. SCience, latin, bible are going pretty good too.
I did find a couple of good deals last week and this week. Our local library had the annual fall book sale. Well when I stopped in last week. I found positive action bible TM and student book for 2.00. I also found a learn french in 10 minutes an day. Then today I found a old english book(1916) and an (1938) math book. So of course as an homeschooler, I just had to get them for my collection. I also found several other sources for reference. I even found a few bible based books to use with my everyday bible study. So I was really happy with me finds.
We are finish with our fifth week of school. The week is went fast. I know that since we started our school days are taking longer. We are learning so much this year and we are enjoying it. We are thinking about switching to year round schooling so that way we will take a few weeks off through out the school year instead of a bunch at the end of the school year. We are loving everything this year. We have finally worked out all the kinks in everything and we are fine with it. So this year everything is a winner.
I cant believe we are almost finished with our fourth week of school. Our school year is going pretty good though. We are right on schedule in everything but history. We decided to spend extra week talking about the pilgrims.This year is so much nicer then last year with our schedule. We were off schedule by this time on several subjects. I think that this year is flowing a lot better due to the fact we are staying on task and not letting our selves get off the schedule.
Whew three weeks are already done for the new school year. This year seems to be flying by. Before I know it I will turn around and daughter will be in high school. This year seems to be flowing by pretty easy with our curriculum choices. We are actually staying on schedule with everything we are using. There is not one subject that we are behind in. That wasnt like that last year. But this year I laid out everything she has to do in a planner for her. So she enjoys marking stuff completed on her planner.
This years math is going great. She has actually learn some stuff this year verses last year. I know though we will struggle when it comes to multiplying and division. So that will be hard and stressful for both of us.
They are refusing to pay for it because of no formal referral letter to that dr. So we had to choose a new dr now. That they will pay for. We are so upset about it. I cried for a while yesterday. We are barely making it on workmans comp. We set at home all the time because hubby's head hurts in the sunlight. We dont know what is causing his blindness, his headaches, his dizziness, and lack of balance. So we are back to a waiting game on appt. Im beginning to wonder if we are every going to get help from anyone.
Well I think I have chosen the one I need to. I will be thinking on for a couple of days before I order my pictures. This is the winner pose.I think anyways.
We cant wait until tomorrow. We love the structure of school schedules. Our days seem to flow better when we follow the schedule. I still have to decide to were and how to take Allison's school pictures. I thinking about taking her picture outside. Our second week is beginning tomorrow.
I see every year our family and friends kids school pictures so I decided to try them myself. Im going to take my own picture then order prints online and see how good they turn out. I hoping they look great. I will post them on here if they turn out any count.
Well the first week of school is done. It has been a great week. I will have to tweak the history plans a little bit to fit our time better. So far so good with the curriculum. Allison really likes all of it. She has several notebook work this year. WE are doing spelling, english, and bible in notebooks. We write our bible verses, sentences, and journal entries. This year in math is pretty good.
Well we are back at school. We have two days under our belts. I know one thing this year the teaching part has really picked up. What use to take 20 is now taking 45 minutes. We are trying to learn alot more then last year too. So far everything I picked out has really worked out well for us. But the jury is still out on some of it. I know one thing we do alot of writing so Im glad I didnt get a handwriting or formal reading program. We would take all day long to do school. Even the R&S English change this year. We have to learn to write the paper a certain way.
The American history is going all right to. We are learning alot of stuff about Christopher Columbus's life.
Well we are getting ready on Monday Aug. 3 to start our 4th year of homeschooling. Who would have thought that we would be starting our 4th year. What started as a trial period four school years ago has bloomed into something wonderful. We started with kindergarten and we havent looked back. My cousin suggested homeschooling and we talked it over, the rest is history. We are planning on homeschooling all the way through. Al, has learned so much over the years. We have learned so much together about what curriculum works and what doesnt work. I guess you spend alot of time on trying different things out. I have learn over the last 4 years of this , that you have to be very flexible with your curriuculum, just because it works for one doesnt mean it willl work for you. So this year I have left behind R&S for several subjects. Im hoping to have better luck with BJU for math,spelling,science and bible. Im hope to be able to stay with BJU for several years. I will decide how well it is going in a few months. Normally you can tell if something will work with in the first 3 months. I guess the best advice I can offer someone is keep a list of the stuff that didnt work and why it didnt work. Usually people makes the mistake and order something that didnt work before. I have found that if it didnt work before then it isnt going to work any better the next time around with the same kid.
I am currently a stay at home mom and taking classes online. I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 9 years. I currently homeschool my only child a Daughter age 8. We are just a typical family that stay pretty busy. We have one cat, two fish, and four dogs to add into the mix. Needless to say my life revolves around my family and friends. Hear is were I try to keep everyone informed about my family. So Welcome to my life.
