Jul. 19, 2006 - Still here...

Okay, this last leave of absence was totally unintentional.  Our laptop had to go back to the computer hospital shortly after my last post, and we only just got it back this weekend.  I'm overwhelmed with correspondence to catch up on, not to mention life in general, but I thought I should stop by if just to say that I'm still here and that I'll be on again soon, God-willing.  No more of this going a month or more between posts!

Hope you're all having a great week!

First of all, the picture on top of your blog of the castle is absolutely gorgeous! Second, it was delightful reading your blog.

I hope the Lord is doing great things in your life as you go throgh this holy struggle with your husband. My husband and I have been married for almost 22 years. To say we have had some hard times would be an insult to hard times. It was more like, just shoot me, it would hurt less. But divorce was never an option, and the Lord helps you through to the other side, where you rejoice in each other. Keep fighting the good fight. Be a blessing to each other, and most of all, walk closely to Him.

I'm glad you have your computer back! I hope it doesn't "get hurt" again! lol

Hi Betsy
Thanks for stopping by. It's great to hear from you.
My mum and dad and my little nephew have gone on the train to Fort William and are today going on the Steam Train to I wish I could remember the name. Mum said it was a long and hot train journey from Glasgow but well worth it for the scenery. One of these days we are going to make it up further than Glasgow and see some of the beauty of Scotland.
Anyway hope you are all well and have a great rest of the week.
Love Deb

Dear Betsy, I came across your blog when I read your comment on another blog. I had to come visit. It's hard to know on here sometimes what is too much to say, or if you'll offend someone, whatever. I however, am glad that you shared that you are having marital struggles. When I first joined HSB it was with the hope that I would form friendships, and find kindred spirits that I could talk to, and find the support and encouragement that I don't find in "real life" friendships. I have no close friends. Just my hubby...I have found that to an extent here, and I think it has come from a willingness to be "open" about my struggles. Within reason, of course, but it's nice to know there are people out there who care about me, and are willing to "listen" and pray.

Another reason I came to your blog is to tell you that you are not alone my friend. satan has used every tactic known to man to drive a wedge between my husband and I. The death of our child, financial difficulties, illness, and the latest tactic has been overwhelming because it is a family member causing the problem. For 10 of the 11 years we have been married, it has been a battle. I love him dearly, and wouldn't trade him for anything, but neither of us was prepared for what God has had in store for us. So, I know the heart ache, and I too will be praying for you.

If you're not comfortable sharing things with "everyone" out there, I have found that when I want to have a more personal conversation with someone on HSB, I just email them. Most of the people have their email addresses listed on their blogs. I have already formed relationships with 4 or 5 people that I really feel like I can talk to, and go more indepth with. I can say things to them that I wouldn't put in my blog. If you ever want to "talk" to someone out of the picture, but in the same precarious boat as yourself, my email is on my blog, and I am always willing to listen. My advice - a little feeble, because I have no business giving advice, but heartfelt - cling to Christ. That's all we can do. He is that anchor that keeps us in the time of storm. Marriage is difficult, but it is not too big for God to handle. Keep immersing yourself in His Word, and don't let go of Him. He will see you through even this.

So...to my new friend "across the pond", I hope you have a wonderful day, and I pray that God will work in your marriage, and restore it to all that He intended it to be. May God pour out His grace upon your little family......

Love, Kathy

I'm glad to see you around. I too have been scarce lately. I just haven't had the inspiration to write.

I was sorry to hear you were having struggles. I am sure you are all under a lot of stress right now. I pray that things will settle down for you soon.

My brother, Joe (JoeM), made my template.

My great-great-great (I think) grandpa came from Scotland. Have you seen any other castles then Edinburgh Castle?

I love being a Elizabeth, too. I was named after one of my Grandmas.

The only castle pictures I have seen, before I saw yours, was the Castle of Duart, the MacLean castle, ( duartcastle.com ) partly because thats the only one I have been super intrested in, because I am a McLean =P

I usally go by the name of Beth or Bethy, but sometimes one of my brothers (homeschoolblogger.com/insanity) calls be Bep or Beppy, or sometimes Betty. =P

I found you as a random and I stopped in to see the gorgeous castle. My family came from Scotland to Canada in the early 1900's. I'd love to visit Scotland someday, to see my family homeland!
I hope your marital issues have been settled, I think we've all gone through rough times before and can certainly relate.
I have enjoyed visiting your blog
