By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge
the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. ~Proverbs 24:3-4

A new interpretation of dancing in the streets -->
I didn't get a picture of it, but at one point she was laying in the puddles splashing. At least the rain was warm!
School is done for Mark and Mei. Testing is done. We are going to do some things this summer. Mark commented that he wished school was not over - he needs something to fill up his days. We will be finishing up Astronomy and starting Flying Creatures, but just for the fun of it. No notebooking or schedule. Just reading together for fun - and learning stuff too!
Mei will be doing some grammar and other LA stuff. She is skipping WP's LA2 but needs a few things before going on to LA3. She is also asking about math to do this summer. I might let her start her new books or I might find her some thing extra to do. More practice on multiplication facts would be good.
Paul graduates in a week and half. I remember a day towards the end of Kindergarten when he stated - "I will finish this year, but I am not going to school for 12 more years and I am not going to college!". Funny how things change. He is already talking about graduate school and he hasn't even started his BS yet!
My oldest son (I still think of him as that snugglely 5 yr old in my mind) is graduating from high school in a few weeks. Last night I filled out graduation announcement and planned his open house. This morning I looked at a college dorm checklist and scheduled his physical for his college health form.
It seems like just yesterday he was so little. I miss those days when a simple hug and kiss from mommy made all the boo boos better. For some reason, that doesn't work as well with my young adult.
I was reading about all those moms getting weepy eyed when saying good-bye at the college. Me, I am almost weepy just filling out the medical form! Good thing he is only going to be about 30 minutes away!
His graduation picture:
How I still picture him:
Or even younger:
Guess I need to go find more cute pictures for his open house!
My father-in-law had heart surgery on Tuesday. His heart was in worse shape than what the doctors thought and there have been complications. James has flown to be there with his father. Please pray he recovers.
On Monday, Paul turned 18! On Tuesday, James turned 48. Today, James's father turned 77. It has been a bittersweet celebration with James's dad being in the hospital.
Mei decided she wanted her hair cut. I tried to get her to donate it but she did not want that much cut off. There are pictures below.
Only 3 weeks left of homeschool after this week. Then required state testing. It has been a good year. Except for history, our school books for next year are here!
Paul has decided to study Computer Engineering at the state university. He has 4 AP exams and then he is done with high school. The Botany class landscaped around the monument and it looks good. All paperwork for the Eagle Project was turned in on time. Now we wait for approval.
Paul is all done with his Eagle Scout project! He has some more paperwork to do and some running around that I need to do, but otherwise it is done...
The monument was delivered yesterday. It looks really good. Way to go Paul! You did a great job!
Close up of monument. FYI - They lose about 4 students a year out of a school of approx. 2000 students.
Whole project - monument and walkway. The monument was wet when the picture was taken. The Botany class is going to plant monkey grass around the walkway and landscape around the monument.
In other news, we had a wonderful vacation in Williamsburg, Va and I had a great time at the WinterPromise homeschool retreat. Another post for another day!
Saturday and Sunday, they laid the walkway. Just have to put down the mortar, which they are planning to do on Tuesday. Hopefully, the monument is coming on Thursday or Friday. The Botany class will finish the landscaping and plant some monkey grass along the edges of the walkway.
Saturday - Laying the walkway - using this cool form to make concrete "stones". The mortar will hold them together.
Sunday - Finishing the last 5 squares of the walkway.
Mei was moral support and all-around fun person.
