Only 7 more days till' Christmas!!

Today I'm going to show you my fav Christmas books!!

Every year we get out a book rack and get all of our Christmas books out!! Here is a picture of what it looks like once we have finished putting them on the rack!

We have TONS of Christmas books!! On the right side of the books there are Christmas movies.

I love all of these Christmas books, but I have a few that are my favorite!!!!

"Annikas' Secret Wish" By Beverly Lewis. This book is about an Amish girl who has a little brother that has to walk with a crutch. Every Christmas for desert they get a bowl of rice pudding. And in one bowl of pudding there is a "Lucky" almond. Everyone always wishes for it and this year, Annika gets it.

So, you'll have to read this book to find out the rest!! I really love this book, I also really like other books by Beverly Lewis.

My next favorite book.

"The Legend of the Candy Cane" By Lori Walburg. This book is really good!! I love it!!
It tells us about the true meaning of the candy cane and of Christmas.

This next book is really great too.

"The House Without a Christmas Tree" By Gail Rock. This book is a true story about a girl who never has a Christmas tree because her Dad wishes (or demands) not to have one.

This one is very funny!!

"BOB" By Sandra Boynton.
This book is very funny!! It has great short little stories/poems  in it!! And a Christmas lullaby in the back!! There are six stories in the book as you can see.

This one is a classic Dr. Seuss Christmas book. "How the Grinch stole Christmas"

The Grinch, Sweet Cindy Lou who, Max the dog, and all of the who's make this story about a old Grinch who hates Christmas and try's to steal Christmas, great!!

This is another classic Christmas story. "The Night Before Christmas" By Clement Moore. My Grandfather reads this to us every Christmas eve!!

"The Story of Holly and Ivy" By Rumer Godden. This a very sweet and sad story of an orphan girl who goes to visit her Grandmother, but of course she doesn't really know her who Grandmother is or if she is even alive.

So those are probably my favorite Christmas books that we own!! Post a comment and tell me what your favorite Christmas books are!!

Hope you enjoyed my 4th day in my Christmas Countdown!! Don't forget to scroll down for other Christmas Countdown posts!!

Do You See What I See?

I was putting some laundry in the washer in our *NEW* laundry room (YAY!) and lifted my head and saw this:

Isn’t it tremendous? How can you look at that and not believe there is a loving and awesome God?! I sure can’t! Clouds and sunsets and sunrises have to be my favorite part of His creation. They are gorgeous! When I see that, I see a loving God.
What do you see?

Only 8 more days till' Christmas!!

So, if you need a last minute gift for someone, here are some ideas!! I have made all of these for people's gifts and they have loved them!!

1. A Christmas tree made of wrapping paper!!

I gave this to my Mom last Christmas!!

So what you do is make a cone out of green construction paper. Then you cut strips of Christmasy wrapping out, make as many as you think you need to cover your tree!! They don't need to be the exact same length because you are going to be layering them on the tree. After you have your strips, take a pencil and a strip, and curl the bottom of the paper around the pencil. Then take it of. This should give the strip of paper a curl at the bottom!! So just keep doing that to all of them!! Then just start layering them on the tree, you can use a glue stick or tape. I think that tape works a lot better!!

The next thing I make for my Dad, Grandfather and Uncles.

2. A hankie with a green and red heart!!

This is very easy if you know how to sew with a needle!!
First just but some plain white hankies. Then in one of the corners draw a heart. You can make it as big or as small as you like. Then, pick out the color thred you want and start sewing around the heart!! Last year I made about 14 of these!! LOL!!

3. The last thing is made out of Northen beans, glue and skittles!!

So what you do is get a package of white dried northen beans, glue and well skittles. Mix in northen beans (It depends on how much to put in on how many of these you are going to make!!) and then put the glue in, mix it together until it is sticky and kind of sticking together! Now, get a peice of wax paper and lay it out on a table, so that it won't stick (you may want to put news paper under it, this will be messy!!). Next take a hand full of the mixture and form it into a shape. I Made a candy cane, and a wreath, but you can make it however you want!! If you wat you can put a ribion on it like I did. Now take red and green skittles (you'll have to pick them out of the reular ones!!) and decorate with them on you creation, do it while the beans are still sticky so they will stick!!!

Well, that's it!! I hope you liked my 8th day of my Christmas Countdown!!! Scroll down for other Christmas Countdown posts!!

Hey guys! Check out this video my GRANDpa made me. I asked him to make it, and within a few days it was done!!

Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjan2tWOkIU

Ok, Dad and Julia made it back safely! They went from Tri Cities Airport to Charlotte and from Charlotte to Phoenix and then to Sacramento. Grandma's going to spend Christmas there, and will probably be coming back pretty soon sometime in January. It was both of my cousins' birthday, and they were there for that, too.

We are going to have a guys' night here Saturday! It's going to be so fun!
We are just going to play cards and maybe PS3!

Today is my second day of my Christmas Countdown!!

For today I'm going to show you a few Christmas cookie recipes that we make almost every Christmas!

This first one is actually a new one for us!! It is a very delicious and rich cookie!!

Chocolate Truffle Cookies

4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
6 TB. butter
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (divided)
1/2 cup flour
2 TB unsweetened cocoa power
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
about 4 dozen peppermint or mint Hershey's kisses

Melt unsweetened chocolate, butter, and 1 cup of chocolate chips in microwave or on stove top. Cool. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Beat sugar and eggs for 2 minutes. Beat in vanilla. Stir in chocolate mixture, then flour mixture, and finally the last cup of chocolate chips. Cover and chill until firm, at least 1 hour. This will look like pudding when you first refrigerate it. Heat over to 350. Shape into 1" balls and bake about 10 minutes. While you wait, unwrap the kisses. Immediately upon taking these out of the oven, stick a kiss in the middle and push down slightly. Finish cooling on a rack.

The second cookie's are jam diagonles, these are very good too!! Sorry, I don't have a picture of these!!

Jam Diagonals

1 stick butter, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. raspberry jam, or , blackberry is good too!
3/4 c. confectioners sugar
3-4 tsp. lemon juice

Mix butter, granulated sugar, vanilla, and salt until fluffy. Gradually stir in flour until blended. Divide dough into thirds. On lightly floured surface, with hands, roll each into a 9-inch rope. Place 3-inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheet, or, better yet, a baking stone. With finger, make 1/2-inch depression down center of each rope. (Ropes will flatten to about 1-inch-wide strips.) Fill depressions with jam. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes, or until golden but certainly not crispy. Cool. Blend confectioners sugar and lemon juice until smooth. Drizzle in zig-zags over jam. When icing is set, cut diagonally into 1-inch cookies.

The next and last cookie isn't exactly a cookie. It is sort of like fudge but you don't bake it and it isn't soft like fudge!!

Chocolate Peppermint Bark

Ingredients:
2 16-oz. bags semi sweet chocolate chips
1 16-oz bag white chocolate chips
6-8 candy canes

Unwrap 6-8 candy canes and put in a ziploc bag. Wrap a towel around the bag and crush candy canes with a meat tenderizer or whatever works for you. This shouldn't be powdery; some small bits are good.

Melt two 16-ounce bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips. I do it in the microwave for one minute and then stir, and then at 30-second intervals, stirring after each 30 seconds until melted.

In a separate bowl, as soon as the chocolate chips are done melt, one 16 oz. bag of white chocolate chips in the same way.

When the chocolate chips are completely melted (and while you are in the process of melting the white chips), add the peppermint to the chocolate. Mix well and spread evenly on a cookie sheet. When the white chocolate is completely melted, drop by spoonfuls onto the chocolate and swirl with a knife to marbelize.

Put in fridge until hard. When it's completely hard, you can take a knife and break it up into fudge-sized pieces. That's it!

Hope you liked these recipes!!

Come back tomorrow for the 3rd day of my Christmas Count Down!! And if you didn't see my first day of this, scroll down!!

I am soo adoring not only this song, but the meaning behind it. Brayden and Talitha wanted their marriage to be an example to all of how the Savior feels about His people: Us.
This is just beautiful and precious!

Such a wonderful reminder that we need to be constantly ready for our bridegroom to come get us!
Matthew 25:6 It was the middle of the night when the cry rang out, `The bridegroom is here! Go out to meet him!'
I'm so looking forward to the day when my bridegroom comes! I'm in love with this song! :D
