Feb. 9, 2008 - I Still Wonder
First of all I would like to say that in no way am I trying to say the bible is not good enough, or that God did not do a very good job in putting it together.
These are just a few questions I had about the Old Testament, questions you could have at the end of every story.
At a church we once went to I really enjoyed my Sunday School Class. However it occurred to me one day that we had gone over the story of Jonah 3 to 4 times that year, and I mentioned this to my teacher. She told me that it didn't matter how many times you read the story you should always learn something new from it.
This is true, but I still wonder if the whale was sick for the whole three days Jonah was sitting in his stomach, or did he become vilently ill all of the sudden, on the third day.
My Sunday school teacher never told me about that!
I just started reading Leviticus, and the other night I read the verse,
Then the priest shall take some of it's blood with his finger, put it on the horns of the alter of burnt offering, and pour it's remaining blood at the base of the alter.
Leviticus 4:30
It suddenly hit me, I wonder what Aaron's hands looked like? This guy's job was to burn blood and guts.
However it says in Exodus 40:32
When they went into the tabernacle of meeting, and when they came near the alter, they washed, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
So he must have been washing his hands more times a day then we probably do in a week.
I ask again, what must his hands look like?
I never learned that in school.
As somewhat of an animal lover I've got a few questions I could ask Samson.
For instance if you read Judges 15:4-5
Then Samson went and caught 300 foxes; and he took torches, turned the foxes tail to tail, and put a torch between each pair of tails.
When he had set the torches on fire, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burned up both the shocks and the standing grain, as well as vineyards and olive groves.
I want to know if any kind soul took the time to stop, and put all those torches out, or if half of the foxes had to learn to walk backwards to make it to the nearest stream, and sit soothing their sore undersides, and if they ever got untied from one another for that matter?
I guess the guy I should be asking about animals would be Noah. I wonder if he had any trouble keeping his lions away from the zebras, or if God made all the animals friends for 40 days? Then again God could have made them all lethargic, I get sleepy on a rainy day.
When I brought the subject up with Mommy, she wanted to know if any of the animals ever got sea sick. I mean this wasn't just a pitter, patter type rain, the skies were opened up, you can read about it on my sister Eyebright's blog here.
Well like I said, I just had a few unanswered questions.

I just found your blog off of alizona's, and I decided to comment!
Those are some very good questions, ones that the Bible really doesn't answer. I know that somewhere in Genesis it says that after the flood was when the animals first started being afraid of man and of eachother, which suggests that they were friends from creation until after the flood. I don't know the reference right off the top of my head - I'll have to look it up.
Anyway, I really like you site!! Have a great day!! ~Erica
