Oct. 6, 2008 - Set the Example
Thank you so much for all the encouraging comments on my last post! I am slowly getting used to Eyebright’s absence. *********************** I have been thinking a lot about what example I have been setting for my younger brothers. Let me list a few things you need to watch to set a good example. 1. What you say... I can say a catchy phrase once, and they will pick it up. The family will be hearing it from little mouths for months on end. 2. Your clothing... young minds can be incredibly influenced by the world. Look out your window while driving through the parking lot at the store and you will see what is influencing your younger siblings. Not very nice is it? Counter attack! 3. Watch your body actions... When your Mother tells you to wash the dishes it does not set a good example to roll your eyes, and mumble under your breath. They see that. 4. What you read, watch, and listen to. If your parents don't approve of something, don't do it! That pretty much covers everything I think. I may be forgetting a few things. My point is, by doing what is right you are not just making things easier for your parents, and everyone around you, but you are showing your younger siblings, that it's the cool thing to do. Hopefully, they will catch on! Also something that would be really good would be to have a good relationship with your younger sibling! You won't get them to want to do something if they can't stand the sight of you! So if you have trouble getting along with younger, or even older siblings. I challenge you to go do something kind for them today. Speak nicely to them, and keep doing it even if they don't answer the same way. It may take awhile, but if you work at it, you will succeed! *************************** By the way, I would love for you all to go and comment a huge welcome to my friend SmartyJones and her younger brother, jedimasteryoda, who just started blogs on HSB not that long ago.

I agree with you 100% on that! What we do our siblings watch us and repeat it. Just start saying SuperCaliFragilisticExpiAliDocious and you'll see what I mean!

You are absolutely right! I especially agree that we should treat our siblings like we want to be treated. I love my brothers to death and I don't like fighting with them. I really don't like it when I hear siblings fight. (and see it too) We know some public school families and it's awful! (I'm not saying we don't fight because of course my brothers and I fight sometimes. Living in the same house together all the time who wouldn't?) I still love them just the same and I don't want to hate each other when we are adults because we fought now. Bravo on your post. :-D
