Jul. 14, 2009 - God's Gifts

My Mom had way to many papers with her name on them. Yesterday my brother and I spent four hours shredding paper and we are probably about half way through the pile of papers we started with.

As I was shredding though I glanced down at a check I was about to feed to the shredder. It had my birth date on it. The same month, and day. It was two years before I was born.
I went and showed it to my Mum and said, "The funny thing is when you wrote this check, you probably didn't even think twice about the date."

I was thinking about it later and realized how God can make so many things happen. He can give and take away. Ten years ago no one ever thought twice about the date 9/11. Well, the people who were born on that day probably did, but that's beside the point.

My Mom did not think about the date I was born two years before, she did not yet know the punishment God was about to spring on her in human form.

Since we have been moving I have tried to imagine what life will be like in our new home, but I can never imagine what will really happen. God has a plan for me, and he is waiting to show them to me, till those special dates that I think nothing of now.

For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and  their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.

                                          ~ Ecclesiastes 9:1

Four hours? Wow... that's alot of papers. :)

I'll be praying for a safe move,

p.s. -- I'm sure you're not a punishment in human form; after all, you just shredded papers for four hours, all for your mom, right?

I have waaay too many papers, too. Wait-make that "had waay too many papers". I am in the process of getting rid of some when I *try* to clean my rather cluttered room ;-D

I know...dates are sometimes funny things. Now I can never think of 9/11 without thinking of the World Trade Centers and the terrorists.
Just like most people can't ever think of July 4th without thinking of fireworks and flags :-)

4Him,
~Hannah
