Sep. 2, 2009 - Will I Rejoice?
This morning while I was reading my bible this verse stood out to me.
~~~~~~~
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.
~ Acts 5: 41
Peter and the apostles had just been in jail, had been questioned by the council, and then beat for spreading the name of Jesus. Yet here they are praising him, and dancing because they were worthy.
I've been thinking a lot about Christian persecution. What does God have in store for me, and am I up to the challenge? Will I come out praising Him because I was worthy to suffer in His name, or will I deny Him to avoid the beatings?
Only the Lord knows what my choice will be, but I can prepare now for those days by becoming closer to Him. Learning all I can about His loving kindness, and awesomeness.
What I've thought was really neat was when the disciples prayed in Acts 4, they didn't pray for the persecution to stop, they just prayed for boldness. WOW!
