Sep. 9, 2009 - Weather Adjustments
Once apon a time my family had an umbrella in the car, but after a few years of us tripping over it while jumping out, little boys opening it in the car and getting it stuck in little girls hair, and never using it for what it was made for, we decided we could do without. After all it doesn't rain much on the high desert.
Yesterday though as we made a dash to the car that was parked at the far side of the parking lot we realized we are in different country now. We sat in our car, soaked, and looked around at all the people handly pulling umbrellas out of their cars.
"We need an umbrella Mom." Kekoa spoke up, and the rest of us laughed.

Umbrellas NEVER last long at my house! The girls always wants to play "Princess" with them, and the boys use them as "Sheilds" :D So they always get broken! We used to have 5, but now we only have one :D

LOL, I'm sure the same thing would happen to us if we moved. It hardly EVER rains around here (the total for this year so far is under one inch I think), and we don't give a thought to using an umbrella! In fact I kind of enjoy getting wet once in a while! :o)

Sep. 17, 2009 - BBQ's and the weather

We keep a small fold-up umbrella in our car (perhaps even two!) and we need it during late December to late Febuary when the heavens open up WIDE and pour down!!
About BBQ's on Christmas day: our family personally doesn't, but as our Christmas is in Summer (aka no snow) it is hot enough for a BBQ (if it isn't raining!) The whole 'white Christmas' concept is a far-off idea to us!
Instead of singing 'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas' we sing, 'I'm dreaming of a wet Christmas'! ;)
