Last week my littles were begging for art. I hadn't anything prepared, so I improvised. I had the children draw on paper towels with regular old Crayola markers. Then we took a squirt bottle and squirted them with water. As the towels dried, the markers bled and look at the beautiful art that is hanging on our wall this week.

This one began as two people, an orange mommy and a purple boy.

WOW~ was this a hit! The pictures don't do the pieces justice. Even my olders were saying how awesome they looked, and hinting that they would like to try their hand at it.
Try this anytime you need a nice little art acitvity. It's simple, and quick. I think these would look great on a window with the sun shining through them!
Oh, and I should tell you that you should place a plastic table cloth or placemat underneath the towel while coloring and spraying, so you don't stain your table.

This looks so cool! It is a showery day here, I am thinking we may be doing this later ourselves!

That was a great idea! They turned out really neat. I was wondering what you have them hanging from in the pictures?

A few years ago when I taught 3 yo children at a Christian Daycare we did something similar only we used coffee filters, then we pinched them in the middle and added a strip of paper like the body of a butterfly on top of the pinched part. (You could make this as simple or elaborate as you want). Then we glued it to a clothespin and added a magnet on the other side and it became a clip for the fridge.
I love your site by the way--just getting around to checking out the blogs of the other blubberbloggers. Can't wait to get to know you better!
