Sometime ago I blogged about discovering a trailer for an upcoming movie called The Nativity. I have been looking forward to its release since then, as I rarely go to the actual movie theater.
This article, from the AP, discusses New Line Cinema (the maker of the movie) being turned down as a supporter of a Christmas festival due to the possible offense of non Christians in attendance. Did you read that? There is concern that non-Christians attending a Christmas festival might be offended! Now I have heard it all. Guess who asked for the festival to reconsider using the studio as a supporter?...The City=Govt.
What really stood out, in the article, was "because it is worried ads for its film "The Nativity Story" might offend non-Christians." The City is worried that ads for a movie centering on the birth of Christ played at a Christmas festival might offend? Why then are they allowing displays from other faiths, which Christmas is no part of? I guess offense is only pertinent to secualr people. As a Christian, you will need to suck it up and take it or stay home.
I hope Christians choose to find another source of fun and entertainment, instead of attending this festival.
These are my thoughts.
