BIBLIOMANIA n. excessive fondness for acquiring and possessing books.

Feeling insignificant

The story of Job is an incredible one. It’s about a man whose absolute devotion to God caught the attention of the devil, who came before God to ask permission to destroy him. But God had complete confidence in Job and gave into the hands of Satan everything Job had, knowing that Job was strong enough to remain faithful throughout it. Eventually, everything was taken away from Job: his sons and daughters, his oxen and donkeys, his servants, his sheep, his camels, his health, everything. Everything except for his wife, who advised him to “Curse God and die!”, and a broken piece of pottery, which he scraped himself with as he sat among the ashes. Yet in everything that he went through, Job did not sin.

Can you imagine having such faith in God that God himself notices you—points to you and says “Have you seen my servant, Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

When it was all over, the Lord gave him twice as much as he had had before and his wife had seven more sons and three daughters.

But what about his other sons and daughters?

What about all of his servants?

In Star Trek, there’s always an expendable crewman dying. It lends drama to the episode and emphasizes that they are really in a dangerous situation without permanently damaging the main characters.

What if I’m an expendable crewman in the story of someone else’s life?

More to come… [I promise!]

Hey!

Nice to see you back!!! Don't leave us like that again, understand? :-)

That was a really good post. I'd love to be such a devoted, faithful, obedient servant of God that He can look at me, and know that I am strong enough in Him to go through anything, that I would never curse Him, despite heartache and pain.

I love my new template too! :-) My friend Bethany did it for me, because I got the template from BlogSkins, but was too confused to make it work with HSB.

I'm doing really good! How are you? :-) I'm getting so excited - I turn 15 in a month! WHOO! lol

Hugs,
Becca

RYC: You are welcome, you blog is very encouraging, you always have something that makes me thing. Thinking teens are pretty cool. Lol ;)

Job was amazing, I have to do a study on him again. The biggest thing is that he never gave up. Even though there were problems and people were getting killed and he was sick he didn't give up or curse God. When push came to shove he cursed the day he was born, but never God. It shows the amazing faith he had.

Anyway, got to run now. Keep up the good posts!

Eric

Mar. 4, 2008 - Just don't wear red...

Posted by DeusPrimus
...the expendables always wore red! If you wear another color I am sure you will be fine. Yes, I can see it now, Job's children, sitting in their eldest brother's house, all wearing RED! It was inevitable. His other children are sure to have chosen more wisely, more earth tones, splashes of pastels...

Thank you for your comment. It is ok, you were not missing much with my old blog, just the HSB default Ice template, quite boring.

I am (almost) a graduate of Liberty University, of Lynchburg, VA. Never set foot on campus though...

No worries, I never did figure out what I was, and when, Freshmen, Freshlettuce, I did try and talk a restaurant into giving me a Senior discount, that did not work out so well! (Hey, I was a Senior!)

Oh, I love being the oldest of nine, sometimes. It is a position of great enjoyment, and responsibility. We have so much fun cooking, it goes really fast with so many hands!

Later,

BFH

P.S. I am also a book addict. We have over 3500 books in our house, not counting kids picture books! Every once and a while, my mom says we should get rid of some, but I just smile and nod, she is as bad as myself, and will never send a book out to fend for itself in the wild world! (We are going to our library's annual book sale in two weeks! They always have so many old books that people have donated, and it is one of my favorite events!!!!)

P.S.S. Come back and tell me how your interview goes on Wednesday!

RYC: Lol, that sounds like a true Narnia Fan reaction! I don't know if I would go to that extreme though ;)

Let me know when your post is up, I'll come comment. ;)

Hmm! I see what you mean. Job was truly faithful to God - don't you wish more people nowadays would, even if everything was taken away from them, not sin at all? Its amazing!

Good queston: What if I’m an expendable crewman in the story of someone else’s life? It could be that we ALL are... One plants and another waters... but I don't think "expenable" in God's eyes means of little value, like in STrek ;)

Have a good trip to Honduras, when do you leave?
