Misc happenings

Nothing much has happened this week... *edited* if nothing much happened this week, how come I came up with so much to say??? LOL!* I didn't feel very good Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, but I feel fine today... That is, if I don't eat a lot. :-) On Wednesday, I was horrified to realize that I hadn't taken even one picture since Sunday!!! So I got my camera, and took many pictures of some roses that my dad gave my mom. This one was probably my favorite...

And then, since I was feeling silly... Mom got us a pair of brightly colored ankle socks, and since I had two pairs sitting right next to me, I couldn't resist making a new match! I took them off right after I took the picture... :-) I love bright colored socks, but I don't wear socks very often... I wear bare feet, or flip-flops... :-) Except that today I had to wear socks and shoes to go on the roof... (that's still coming--keep reading!)

The other day, I was looking at lionbrand.com for free patterns, and I saw  one for a rag doll wig. So I printed the instructions out, got started and decided that I didn't feel like doing this after all... :-) So instead, I started playing around and ended up dying my hair!!! Do yoy like it? LOL! Thankfully, it wasn't permanent.

(warning! this is the longest paragraph, and its all about being on the roof!) In our family, when you turn 6, you get a Bible for your birthday, and then you start with reading a few verses every day and work up to a few chapters. When we turn 11, we get to help in the church nursery, but that is only when there are enough babies... (we usually only have one...) When you turn 12, you get to go on the roof with dad, and when you turn 13, you get to sit in the front seat of the car. So today, when dad went on the roof to work on the swamp coolers, he took Alison and me up with him. You can see quite a lot up there! (you're thinking, "you took your camera on the roof????" Yes, I take it everywhere.) While we were walking along the very top of our roof, it reminded me of when Anne in Anne of Green Gables walked on the ridge pole, so I had Alison do the same.  The problem is that our roof isn't very sharp so it doesn't look very impressive... LOL! I would post pictures of the view, but it wouldn't be very interesting... And the last thing about the roof, is that we saw some sort of hang glider with a motor flying around town! I got a picture of it (I'd post it, but I figured that they paragraph was long enough... I was going to take a video of him, but my camera batteries died... What perfect timing! LOL!

And lastly, its spring!!! Our cacti are finally blooming!!! Its my opinion that the ocotio has the prettiest flowers of all our cacti...

I would post pictures of the stove/oven that I made today, and the little clay mouse (?) but this post got longer than I thought it would... I'll post about that next week. (unless something else exciting happens and I post about that instead....

Well, it sounds like you have had fun! It also sounds like you either have a much smaller camera than mine, or are willing to carry a bulky camera around no matter what. Mine is pretty big, and has a neck strap. Often times, when I am trying to do something, it gets in the way. So, if I put it down, that means that I have to go and find it, or get it out again every time I want to take a picture! Poor me. :-)

Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

Oh, now I remember! I did read that post about your new camera. It is very nice! I had a avatar up for a while that showed my new camera. I think it is probably about the same size.

Oooh, braces. I had braces for three years, I think. I was only supposed to have them for two, but for some reason it had to be extended.

Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

Hi Amy,

What a pretty picture of your mom's roses! I love that soft pink. And I don't know, I kinda like the socks - we saw at store recently they were selling socks purposly mismatched, I think the name of the company was Miss Matched and they sold children's socks, 3 sets in a package - they matched somewhat in color, but one would be stripped and the other poka dotted, they were very cute. I wanted to buy Anna some, but she declined for some reason.

Wow, being of the roof is a bit scary - well, it is around here as our roof is pretty steep. I don't think I'd want the girls up on it even if they were 22 - I get nervous when Mr. S has to go up there. I wouldn't mind going up - it's the coming off the roof again that scares me - that and ledges.

Thanks for visiting my blog, the girls haven't done many duets, but may do more as Anna learns the guitar more - she's not really ready to perform for anything more than our Rubies group yet. I really need to find her a GOOD guitar teacher for her. We don't have a video camara and I tried taping Amber playing violin from our camara, but you mom said it didn't play very well - I'm afraid it wouldn't be very impressive, maybe I'll try again sometime.

Have a good week!
