• Nov. 14, 2006 - Questions from Home Sweet Homeschool Blog

Posted in Happy Stuff

Theresa at Home Sweet Homeschool is hosting this contest and asked each person to answer the folowing questions:

1.  Share 1 healthy recipe that your family enjoys for dinner, along with the nutritional information if at all possible.

B-Vitamin Rich Smoothie

(given to me by a friend.  I actrually had it this morning.  I like it but it is not sweet like a smoothie you would get in a store.)

1/2 c. sunflower seeds

1/2 c. sesame seeds

1/2 c. almonds

1/2 c. oats

1/2 c carob or cocoa powder (I use carob)

1/2 c. wheat germ

1 c. dry milk powder

1 1/2 c. soy protein powder

1/2 c. nutritional yeast

5 1/2 tsp. cinnamon powder

Grind nuts and seeds very fine. (I do not do this; I like it gritty.) Add remaining and mix well. Store in Freezer. Yeilds 6 c.

TO MAKE SMOOTHIE

Blend together:

1 c ice water (or milk)

1/2 c. mix

1 frozen banana ( can use other frozen fruit as you wish)

1 tsp. blackstrap molasses

yeilds 2 c.

2.  What is one book or website on healthy living or eating more naturally that you would recommend.

Apple Cider Vinigar: Miracle Health System ( very interesting book on the benefits of taking this on the inside and outside)

Change your life By Becky Tirabassi (It has been a while since I read this, but I liked her approach to changing you life in all areas.  Her website has good info too.)

Toxic Relief (I have just been reading this.)

3.  Share with me one verse of encouragement from the Word of God.

"When your words came, I ate them;

they were my joy and my heart's delight,

for I bear your name,

O Lord God Almighty."

Jeremiah 15:16

(We need to keep first things first.  Our intentional pursuit of God to know Him is our primary goal and from that all else flows.)

4.  Which type of scale do you prefer... the face or digital and why?

face.  I tried the digital and it broke within a week.  I just do with what we have and it was a cheaper model.

5.  What is one food or exercise tip that you have always rememberd and tried to implement in your own life.

take quality vitamins.  Presently I take Life Force Multivitamin  by Source Naturals, an Ester- C vitamin, EPA-DHA Complex by Metagenics (Ultra Pure Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids) and I take Braggs apple cider vinigar each day.  My kids take Mega-Kid by Source Naturals too.  These were given to me by a nutritionalist at our natural food store.  PLEASE DO NOT GO OUT AND TAKE WHAT I AM TAKING WITHOUT TALKING TO SOMEONE ABOUT YOUR BEST CHIOCES.  I also take DGL when I have digestion issues and Green Vibrance esp. when overseas where it is hard to get what you need.

6.  Are you and your family where you would like to be in regards to your eating, exercising and feasting on the Word of God?

no, but I actually woke up today thinking I would work on it again.  I need to really work towards moderation and depending on the Holy Spirit to help me where I am weak.  I want to work towards eating mostly vegetarian because of some digestion problems. My kids get activity and I was but this past month has been crazy and I am now putting off going back to the gym.

7.  If you answered no to question 6, tell me about it.  Where are the areas in your family that need examining.

see above

8.  This one is going to be by faith... but I would like to ask you to get up out of your chair and either do 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups or 10 jumping jacks.  After you've completed this assignment you can sit back down and mark this as "done"

done, jumping jacks on the rebounder. (There are great health benefits to a rebounder, BTW, and my kids enjoy it too.

9.  Would you be interested in joining me on this journey?  Would you like to improve your health and that of your families?

I might, what did you have in mind?

Theresa, thanks for this push to get me thinking.  Thanks also for visiting my blog which led me to your today!  May God bless you on your journey!

1. my 2007 Suzy Zoo calendar that my mom gave me. I have been using a larger grid calendar for the past few tears but it is nice to have pictures again and so cutre too.  I have it up on the fridge next to this years calendar to add to things as needed.

2 Nicaragua.  I just came back from a short visit to this amazing country.  God is at work there as was evident in several compelling testimonies that we heard. It was fun to help with translating too.  I learned more Spanish and about translating.  I went to see how  supporting church might partner with what God is doing there.  The organization is NRN.

3.  Revolution by George Barna.  Excellent book in my opinion and I think it has some very valid points that those of us in the church need to be aware of and ready for.  I read it on my trip.  Hope to read more of his books.

Things that I am happy about this Wednesday:

1. Traditional Medicinal Teas  These teas are the best I have ever tasted and helpful too.  My favorites are Organic Peppermint that promotes healthy digestion and Lemon Echina Throat Coat that supports throat health and has a slight licorice taste.  They have some for kids too.

2. Aerobics- I have just been working out again for a little over one month but I am getting stronger, slepping better, and getting more done. I wish I had time daily.

3. I got an encouraging phone call from a Titus two women in my life and she wants to get our family this worldview curriculum from Summitt ministries. I feel so blessed and excited about seeing it.  She has used it with her grandson and thought it would be great for us.  Praise God!

4. I am going to be involved in a small group with 4 other women studying Bob Sorge's book Secrets of the Secret Place: Keys to Igniting your Personal Time with God and I am looking forward to it.  It is a group that was brought together by the Lord, I am certain. We had our initial meeting at a tea house in town.  How fun is that?

5.  We were involved in Mission At The Airport this past weekend.  My husband worked at it and it was great to see how many people came out, we hope some will also be called into missions.

6. My 3 year old is finally potty trained.  I am doing the happy, happy dance.
