On one or 2 of my email groups they are discussing an article written by a femi-nazi. I haven't read the article (I value my time.), just the group members' responses. So this is my edition to their responses. I would post a link to the article, but I assume you value your time as well. I also don't want to use my blog to give her nonsense a voice. Just know that she is very unhappy with how the feminist movement has shaped up and believes that instead of educational and corporate entities, the fight should be more directed toward the home where there is the real glass ceiling.
I was all about being feminist in high school. I met my dh my freshman year at Tulane University and suddenly, he and God challenged me to see the truth. I did finish my degree in communication. I don't use it to make money, but I communicate (and evaluate communication) frequently at home. ;).
My theory is that it's BECAUSE women are in the workplace that workers can demand your life, your entire life, and not just 40 hours. There are many more workers than jobs with so many women working. Therefore, if some guy, doesn't want to work 70 hours a week, the company has no problem finding someone who can. Men with no families are part of the problem too though. My dh is a web developer. The great majority of the guys he works with have no kids and a working wife. They have no life except for work, nothing else to do, they even think the work is fun I guess (nerds.) My dh is at the top of the programming ladder in our city, but it's still hard to compete with guys who have no life.
So the way I see it, if there were a "woman team," I think the full-time working women earning a second income are the ones who are letting down the team. Those of us who are staying at home and being "fulfilled" by it may have it easier if they would go home. Also, many women who would love to stay home completely and (really) HAVE TO work some to help out with the household income wouldn't have to do so as businesses would have to pay their husbands more salary to win the best workers and the workers may not be so replaceable.
One last thing, the feminist working women of the world seem to be deceived. They have actually tipped the scales in the good favor of men. In case they haven't noticed, it's still the women shuffling kids from here to there, making schedule and doing all those "menial" jobs such as "cleaning human waste", bathrooms, laundry, dishes, etc. Their men are now enjoying more income with more boats and golf clubs to use on the weekends, while those liberated women are catching up with kids and housework they missed out on during the week.
