Elizabeth’s Chinese Pirate Costume
The costume was inspired by the one worn by Elizabeth in the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. I recently just finished making this costume for a customer that ordered it.

This was a very fun and challenging costume because it was a different style for me to make and design. The embroidery and cording were a little tedious, but I was pleased with the results so the time didn’t matter.
The Coat has hooks for easy wearing and at the top of the neck is a functional (dyed to looked aged) loop and Chinese knot. All the trims have been dyed and aged to look worn and weathered. The camera does not properly show the aging and worn looks of the trims to its full potential, but the trims do look more aged and worn when the costume is viewed for real.

The costume consists of four pieces: coat, pants, belt and arm guards. The belt has three armor like flaps that hang from the sides and back of the belt…back of the belt laces up with eyelets and black cord for an easy fit. Arm guards were designed with space to allow the skin to show because it accents the lacing.

Thank you for reading....

I can't see that pics at the library. But I am sure its beautiful!!
Am happy you finished your pirate costume. I bet you were relieved. Its nice to work on it and see it completed, but if it takes a long time, you can get board. That is how I was with my quilt. But I am glad it turned out the way it did.

Glad you liked my Tribute. I am so happy it came across as heartfelt.
That is funny your house is a boarding house. LOL!! I wish people liked us around here and came and visited. Oh well, we have our online friends like you.

You are soooo talented. That Elizabeth dress is very beautiful (and, unlike many replicas I've seen, it actually looks a lot like the dress in the movie.) I'm going to visit your blog regularly from now on. :-D

Hi Brielle,
You're welcome! I can't wait to put the costume together. I need to go get some big gold hoop earrings. lol
Hahaha, that's funny! Where did you meet him? :P
Those classes sound good. I always think theater classes would be interesting to take, but it's not what I'm going after. Also, I'm very shy, so classes where you have to interact with people a whole lot would be hard for me. lol Are they online classes, or in the class room?
Love,
Jennifer

This is a neat blog that you have. It's probably not too hard to dress like Bourne; all you need is a jet black long sleeve turtle neck, and a jet black blue jean. Tell me what you think, or if you have any suggestions as to how he would dress, please e-mail me or write me a comment. Ttyl and God bless.
Matt

Wow, your costumes are incredible!! I am in awe of someone who has enough skill in sewing to do that. I will be checking in...perhaps, someday, when I have made enough money to spend, I will contact you about a fun costume...
Generally, what do your costumes run price wise?
Thanks,
Jess

That's so amazing! I wish I could sew like you. I'm trying to learn, but since I prefer designing my own clothes rather than buying a pre-designed pattern, it hasn't gone all that well which brings me to my question:
Do you use a pattern or do you design your own or do you change those pre-designed patterns or what?
Thanks!
Your Admirer,
KK

I love my shirt!! I have worn in almost everyday since I got it. I am like that.
I do look decent in green, huh??
I did have fun in the kitchen. lol. even if I am a weirdy.
Glad you are getting everything worked out on the play. That is so neat that you get to costumeize a WHOLE play. Whoa!! That takes skill. But then again, you totally have it. ; )
I am doing ok. Glad you are well, even if you are very busy.
The SSA is going pretty good. I am glad with the turnout this being the first time.
We will definitely pray for your friend. That is sad to hear.
I posted the winners of the Tribute To My Dad Contest.

Thanks for the comment and the help!
I haven't started anything yet, but, after looking at all the pictures of the beautiful dresses you've made, I've decided it's best categorized as a Jane Austin gown (incidentally, there's nothing white about it, it's green and silver). Our trip to Minnesota has put everything on hold, but I can't wait to get started.
That class sounds really cool you teach. I wish I could take it, but I don't think we live in the same part of the country. Do you enjoy teaching? How long have you been sewing?
Thanks again,
KK

Great Job! I noticed that you were the featured blogger on the Backyard. That is how found out about your great sewing ability. I knew that you could sew, but I had never been to your blog and had never seen such clothes! Do you have to do a lot of hand sewing?
Amy
P.S. I like tyhe Hobbit dress best.

Hi, I realize that I have already commented, but I have a question. I LOVE wearing skirts, and i would like to wear more, but, usually they are expensive, so I was wondering, do you make your own skirts? If so, do you have any simple patterns that I could use for making one of my own, just for everyday wearing? I have found some simple ones online, but I was wondering if you can tell me numbers of certain ones or something. It would be a HUGE help!!!!
Thanks,
Kitty

Hi,
I found your site when I was researching pirate costumes. I am a teenage homeschooler who doesn't get to dress up very often. (I don't celebrate Halloween.) I really like your site. The costumes are wonderfully intricate, I enjoy looking at them and would love to be able to purchase one someday.
