----------------Costume Snap Shot: Eowyn's White Dress------------------------------------------

After receiving many comments, e-mails and messages of girls mentioning Eowyn’s white dress… I asked myself… “What is it about that dress that draws people to it?”

     In all reality it a simple Medieval style, but with an addition of a belt the gown becomes more royal. Besides some hand embroidery at the neckline and some silk style fabric that line the long flowing sleeves…the dress is rather plain. So then, might I ask what is it that everyone likes about it? Perhaps it is Eowyn’s version of the “the little black dress” 

 … I think that it is all the atmosphere and dramatic look of that costume…that appeals to girls and ladies. Who wouldn’t want to wear a long flowing gown on the top of a hill, wind blowing your hair; looking down upon your kingdom? To me that is what makes this gown of hers so special and so popular.

You know that lavender dress she wore in TT when Aragorn dreams she's with him? I really want to make that. I've got the fabric and all already! The green wedding dress in ROTK would be lovely, too. I'm trying to figure out the beaded circlet...

I have to say that I like Arwen and Eowyns gowns the best. I have never really liked Galadrial, but I like Rosie, just in the cute country charm way. If you know what I mean.

Lately, Eowyn is my favorite female character. I this she is so beautiful. And yes, I love her white gown, along with every other outfit you see her wearing!

Eowyn, namley because her dresses do not have plunging necklines, (which I abhor) and are sort of plain but yet . . . regal? Besides the white dress, I love the blue one with the brown overdress.

Hello, I love your blog. I am a sister of lotrsavvy and I thought I'd check you out. I wish I could sew like that but i don't think I have the patience so I'll stick to drawing the costumes.


I don't know witch ones I like the best, I'm stuck between Arwen and Eowyn. They're all so pritty!

I really love that white dress too! I would seriously wear it in my wedding some day-maybe.

I have to say I like Arwen's costumes the best, although I do love Eowyn's too.

I love Arwen's dresses because they are always so feminine! (though I must agree with ElvishMaiden that I don't care for her necklines!) My very favorite dress that she wears would have to be her green coronation dress! Your costumes are absolutley gorgeous!

I would have to choose Arwen. Since I am almost finished with reading Return of the King, and just finished watching all three over a week-long nightly watching, I am so into Lord of the Rings. Even thought I ADORE Eowyn's coustumes, I would have to say Arwen.

Yes I love ancient history, I think Iiked all my life. When I was younger I wanted to be a paleontologist. I loved dinosauores, a lot. I have a drawer full old dino toys.

ooooh... why must you make me choose???!!!! I aboslutely love Éowyn's, Arwen's, and Galadriel's dresses! I really do like Éowyn's "shieldmaiden" dress.. but I like all of them. ack. haha And the one Arwen wears on the bridge with Aragorn, barely seen, that one is sooo pretty. And Galadriel's... I can't choose. :P

Well, I like Galadriel's gown because it's elven, but I also like Arwen's coronation gown, but I also really like Eowyn's brown and blue gown, the one she wears during the warg attack.

Like I said before, I love the Eowyn dress, but I also like Galadriel's, as well as the red and blue dress Arwen wears in the Return of the King (with a higher neckline). I wore that one to a Renaissance Festival once and it was fun!

I like Eowyn and Rosies dresses. Eowyns look so easy to move it, rather plain looking, and I love the style! And Rosie's, well they just look like what she is, a little country girl! I love that style! Though the elves where so lovely!
