Cinderella Peasant Costume
 ~ Cinderella’s Peasant Costume ~

On this costume I wanted it to look worn and dirty, but still pretty. The blouse is made of a cream muslin while the bodice is a rose colored pink fabric that is accented with a small diamond design and the laced up the front with a small leather cord. The skirt has an attached petticoat and was aged and distressed to give the look of many days spent cleaning the fireplace and doing chores.

The role of Cinderella was double casted, so there were two girls that played her part by taking turns each night. Because the girls were not the same in size, I made two of Cinderella's costumes... using the same fabrics and I tried to age them in the same areas so they looked just like the other costume...so that was a fun challenge.

The back closes with an invisible zipper, so the costume is all one piece made to look like 3 separate garments. For the apron I used a plain cream fabric and tea stained it and aged the hem and ties to give it a really worn and well used appearance. I wanted the ties to be long enough to create that perfect princess bow, and I think it worked well for that.

Cinderella also wore a pink headscarf that was tea stained and aged, the fabric that was used was a very thin pink linen that draped over her curls nicely.

The costume is so lovely! I can't wait to see the rest of the photos!
I've been meaning to write to you for so long! Things have been so busy! I was gone all last week at church camp, and the weeks before that were all really busy also. Now I'm getting ready for Bible School next week, but I'll try to write you an actual note before then!
Blessings!
~Hannah

Thank you for your comment. I have actually been working on a LOT of sewing projects lately! I hope to have a slideshow of what I have been doing up very soon. I think I will go work on that actually. I can't wait to see more costumes, but I totally understand about being busy!
Luv,
Miss Kitty
