Oct. 5, 2008 What are you listening to?
artist: Fernando Ortega
album: This Bright Hour
song: O Thou, In Whose Presence
words: Joseph Swaim
Beautiful and Powerful! Enjoy!
O Thou, in whose presence my soul takes delight,
On whom in affliction I call,
My comfort by day, and my song in the night,
My hope, my salvation, my all.
Where dost Thou, dear Shepherd, resort with Thy sheep
To feed them in pastures of love?
Say, why in the valley of death should I weep,
Or alone in this wilderness rove?
Oh why should I wander, an alien from Thee,
Or cry in the desert for bread?
Thy foes will rejoice when my sorrows they see,
And smile at the tears I have shed.
He looks, and ten thousands of angels rejoice,
And myriads wait for His word;
He speaks, and eternity, filled with His voice,
Re-echoes the praise of the LORD.
Dear Shepherd, I hear, and will follow Thy call
I know the sweet sound of Thy voice.
Restore and defend me, for Thou art my all,
and in Thee I will ever rejoice. |

It was a beautiful day today. After Sunday School and lunch we had a family baseball game. DH, DS(12), DD(9), DS(8), DS(6), and myself had a fun game.
I am planning to transplant our sunflowers from the plastic bag greenhouses the children made at Cub Scouts. DH dug the row and placed the posts this evening. I would love to make a sunflower house...but lack the space. Maybe next year in our renovated back yard!!

Malachi 3:16
Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name. |

Nov. 11, 2006 Remembrance Day
In Canada we have Remebrance Day on November 11th. We remember the veterans that fought for our freedom. The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month is significant because that is when the guns ceased fire in WWI.
This is called "armistice". (www.warmuseum.ca)
This morning I got the children ready for the service. We arrived at church dressed in our Sunday best wearing red poppies on our left side. This year there was a live performance by a bagpipe-player. Beautifully haunting music. We stood as the small band of veteran soldiers marched in and took their seats. "O Canada" was sung. Scripture reading, prayer, singing, and a short message followed.
At 11:00 a.m. the "Last Post" was played. Two minutes of silence. Then the "Reveille" was played. Individuals came forward with wreaths as names of loved ones who fought for freedom were called. My daughter took her turn in laying a wreath for her grandfather. We sang "God Save the Queen." Then we all stood as the veterans walked out.
This is a sad time for me as my paternal grandfather died last year. I was very close to him...he was My Grampy. He served in the Navy in WWII. It is sad to see the veterans come in and he is not there.
But, I can still have joy and assurance knowing that my Grampy is in Heaven waiting for me to arrive!
