Home School Programs

The Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm provides many exciting hands-on opportunities for home-school groups to learn about the natural environment and agriculture.  All of our school programs are available to home-school groups and may be scheduled during Aullwood’s open hours.  Aullwood is actively working toward the goal of improving and increasing our home-school programming.  If you would be interested in helping us to better our home-school programs by participating on a special Aullwood Home-School Advisory Board, please contact Tom Hissong, Education Coordinator, at (937) 890-7360 or email at thissong@audubon.org

Upcoming Home School Activities at Aullwood

Home-School Open House – September 14, 2006, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.   Learn about Aullwood’s unique facilities and programs and how home-schools can extend their learning experiences through hands-on programming in natural history and agriculture.  A program on Aullwood’s educational programs and activities, a tour through the Marie S. Aull Education Center, a brief outdoor walk and refreshments will be part of this evening event.  Please plan to attend and let us know if you are coming by calling Tom Hissong, Education Coordinator, at (937) 890-7360 or email at thissong@audubon.org  

Home School Autumn Natural History Field Day – October 10, 2006, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (3^rd – 6^th grades)  Home-school students will have the opportunity to experience the natural world through hands-on, outdoor field activities (guided by Aullwood naturalist teachers) that will include general ecology;  plant study; aquatic study (seining in the Stillwater River); insect study; bird study and much more.  This program will be limited to 25 students.  Cost of $15.00 per student / members of Friends of Aullwood and $20.00 per student / non-members (for the entire day) will include all materials and handouts.  Students are asked to bring a sack lunch and beverage.  For more information, contact Tom Hissong, Education Coordinator, at (937) 890-7360.
