Homemade Face Wash (Oily Skin)

Posted in Homeschool Kitchen

I will be 50 years old in a matter of weeks, and my face and hair are as oily as they were when I was 16 years old.  If any of you are familiar w/Clinique, I am a Type 4  (I worked for Clinique for 4 years - yeeeeeeears ago!).

Up until recently I still battled w/acne and uncontrolable oil.  Until recently...

Several months ago, after gleaning from several books about homemade skin care, I started making my own modified formula for oily skin.  It is AWESOME.  It has completely renewed my complexion - it's soft and smooth and clear - and has completely gotten rid of one of my DD's back acne.  It's so simple...here's how it's done...

Here's what you need:  an empty pum bottle, a bottle of liquie Castile soap, a funnel and essntial oils of your choice.  I use Tea Tree, Lavender and Rosemary not only b/c of their wonderful fragrances but also b/c of their antibacterial benefits.

Next, pour in the Castile soap (which is AWESOME for oily skin AND hair).

Now, add your essential oils.  I use 20 drops of Tea Tree, 20 drops of Lavender and 10 drops of Rosemary.  Shake.  One pump of soap on a clean, wet wash cloth OR in your wet hands will be plenty.

DO NOT USE THIS TO TAKE OFF EYE MAKE-UP!!!

Since it is made w/anitbacterial oils it also makes a great shampoo for oily hair and/or an anitbacterial hand wash at your sink.

If you try this, let me know how it works for you!!

Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><

I went to Kroger and saw the castille soap that you mentioned before. There was the regular and one with lavender oil in it. However, would you think it'd have enough lavender in it or would need more than what they have? Found the tea tree oil too...just not any rosemary oil. Is that readily available at most healthfood stores? (I don't usually look for the essential oils when there)

Kim,
It's good to see that someone else understands the whole insomnia thing. Just sorry that you too had to go through it. Not fun. And yes, we pretty much go to our own schedule..out of necessity really. lol! I was thinkin' the same thing about the castille soap too...can't really tell how much of the lavender that they added. However, it was the ONLY difference in the ingredients from the regular and that one. But again..you don't know how much is actually in it. I too was a chicken about it and didn't get it for that reason...wanted to ask you first!! lol!! So, I'll probably get the regular and the other essential oils to put in. Can't wait to clear this skin of mine up. Hate acne! I also loved the castille soap bottle...all the Bible verses all over it,etc...pretty cool! ;)

I just went to the healthfood store today and got the essential oils needed for this face wash. I grabbed the regular castile soap at Kroger the other night I just opened the oils...wow! They sure are potent too!! Bout cleared out my sinuses! lol! But I now have a face/body wash to use to try and clear this acne of mine up. I'll let ya know how it goes, chica. ;) Thanks again for the recipe.

I have tried many products but if it works for my oily skin it exacerbates my rosacea. I also have acne on forhead. I would like to try this but am worried about using more oil on my face. Has this worked for anyone else.
