Favorite Kitchen Gadgets

Posted in Homeschool Kitchen

Chaz, beloved HSB editor, had a post on The Front Porch about her favorite kitchen gadget.  It reminded me that we all have our favorites, don't we?

I have 2 ~ 1 old & 1 new...

Old: my grandma's hand-crank can opener. I'm telling you, ANY OTHER electric can opener I've ever used has always left some little section of the top of the can in tact - ALWAYS - no matter what kind of elcetric can opener I've used. I don't know if it's the can opener of me. lol But my gr-ma's little hand-crank can opener works just as well for me as it had for have for her 50...70...or more years ago. PLUS I love using something that her loving, hard working hands have used.

New: My bread maker. I use it for the "heavy lifting" - it kneads my dough & does the 1st rising & then I take out my dough & do the last rising & baking in my loaf pan. As I get older, I appreciate the time-savings & the rest for my aging hands.

What's some your favorite kitchen gadgets?

Blessings from Ohio...

I don't know why this is my favorite because it is so simple, and it isn't really a gadget either. Old-fashioned wooden spoons and cooking utensils just can't be beat. Plastic, metal, silicone, etc... just don't make me as happy as cooking with a wooden spoon. Some of mine came from my mom, and some came from a yard sale. I love them. Since you did an old and a new, I will share a new one as well. Last fall, I got the Kitchen-aide stand mixer I had been wanting for years, and it honestly can't be beat in my world. I use it all the time and absolutely love it!

I would have to agree with breadmaker(s) I have to use two for this herd. I also love my cast iron skillets and dutch oven. Oh and in the winter I would be lost without my crockpot.
