Notions of a Texas Ranch Girl

Our sunny week

The sun came out for a few really nice days, so we spent some time outside.   Here's some pics (of course).   I have to apologize to anyone with dial-up internet, my blog probably takes forever to load   , but I'm a visual person, and just love photos, so sorry...   Here's Nathan and boys digging in dirt at Auke Rec (and look - SHORT sleeves - a rarity here):

The boys and I at Mendenhall lake with glacier in the distance:

Nathan and boys crossing stream:

We finished our second week of homeschooling.  Its going well, I'm still ironing out the kinks, but we are having fun.  The boys LOVE Muzzy Spanish on dvd- Tristan and Morgan can count to 10 in Spanish now, and all three watch it on their own - they just love it.   They are doing well with Rosetta Stone too, but they don't think its as "fun".

For anyone unfamiliar with Muzzy, it is a dvd program where they just talk and sing in Spanish, for all ages.  The grande monster is Muzzy (in Spanish that's "moo-zy").  They have Muzzy in other languages too.  Lukey already knows a few Spanish words as well.

Sep. 17, 2006 - Looks like fun!

Wow! It sure looks like ya'll had a great time. Wow! I have always wanted to go to Alaska. My wife and I hope to take our son there for his graduation. He is 9 so we have time to plan. Just a hint on posting photos to your blog. Here is what I do. I have Photoshop, but most photo editing programs can do it. I resize the photo to about 25% of its original size and then Save As, and place it in a Web Photo's file as a jpg. This way I have the original photo for printing and I have a smaller "memory" sized photo. I also use http://photobucket.com, a photo posting site that is free. Someone suggested it to me. I like photo’s too, and used up my homeschoolblogger memory fast. Doing it that way will help the photo’s come up faster. In my former career I was a graphic artist. Hope that helps.

Hey, I'm lovin' all those guys in camo. It's the preferred fabric of the men in our family. =) The picture of you and the boys is so pretty. You're making such incredible memories, Kim.

Teaching Dad - thanks, I use photobucket too, and use Photoshop and Picasa for photo editing - I actually prefer Picasa for quick edits and photo storing, and then use Photoshop when I want to clone, adjust color levels, add text, or more advanced editing.

In Alaska anyway, camo is king. When we went to camp a few weeks ago, the rock climbing instructor went around the room asking all the kids their favorite color - several boys said their favorite color was camo! :)

I love the photo of you and your boys on the beach! I can tell they all belong to you and you belong to them. What a beautiful place and day to have fun. I enjoyed your story of how you ended up in Alaska. It is always nice to be secure in the palm of God. Your boys are in a great place to grow up.
