Snow and more snow

Posted in Life in Alaska

We've had over 30 inches of snow in the last few days, and it keeps snowing and snowing and snowing.   I do like the snow, but my neighbor does have a point when she says, "you don't have to shovel rain."

Nathan worked from home on Wednesday because he couldn't get out of the neighborhood, the streets were so high with snow and the snow plows couldn't keep up.  The public schools canceled school on Tuesday and Wednesday (I didn't know they ever canceled school for snow in Alaska, but apparently they do.)

Here's Lukey in waist-high snow:

And our new hero, the snow plow/grater:

Nov. 19, 2006 - Snow in the South

Posted by TeachingDad
Last year it didn't snow once during the winter season. It Iced twice - that is nasty stuff. Took out the power for 5 days in the town near us. Snow is something our son would love to see and play in. Only played it is a few times.
Try to make the most of it - sure looks like fun to us!

Hi Kim,
Wow, 30 inches!?!? That's a lot! And true about the rain- we get enough of that.
I love the pictures you have here. The motion blur of the snow plow is really cool!
Lukey sure is a cutie!!

Thanks for letting me know about dgrin.com! I will definitely check it out! The one I was referring to is www.ilovephotography.com . It's mostly for children's portrait photographers but they also have a wedding section & some other forums too. I feel the same way about that one- the talent there is amazing and it took me a while to get the guts to post! It's an addicting place, I tell ya! I've learned so much there though!

TTYL!
Love, Alyssa
