Notions of a Texas Ranch Girl

Black bear sow and cubs

We went to the glacier today and saw the black bear sow and cubs that have been hanging out there eating sockeyes.   The mama bear would catch the salmon, and then all three dug in.  We got to watch them a good 10 minutes or so before they caught another salmon and went under the trees.

Interestingly, I heard on the radio, they are more active when all the tourists are there than at other times.

Don't know how close you were but the mother bear doesn't look too perturbed by having her picture taken!

I guess no news is... no news?

Aug. 16, 2007 - I was in Juneau!

Posted by Danaover40
I was just in Juneau on a cruise in June. I enjoyed reading your blog about life in Alaska. You look lovely, and I'll be checking back for your baby report. My oldest son, Carter was born this week 24 years ago. It doesn't seem possible. I'm evious of your cool weather for your pregnancy, as I was suffering in the Virginia heat and humidity while waiting for Carter to arrive.
Nice to meet you Random Blogger!
