Once upon a time a group of horses lived in a canyon. One day a mother horse was going to give birth. All the other horses were worried because the canyon did not have any grass or water. The stallion had to find another place for them to live. So he started early in the morning and by the time it was midnight he had to find something to eat. He found some grass to eat and some water to drink. Now the stallion was far away from his home and he was getting a little home sick. Then all of sudden a mountain lion charged at him. He tried to out run him but he could not. So BOOM BANG BUNG.

The mountain lion was dead. The stallion was still alive. But he was very weak. Then he found an apple tree and ate 6 apples and then he felt strong. The apples were magical! Then he found a bag so he put the apples in the bag. He is in the forest and there are a lot of trees in his way of getting through. It is night time and he is getting very sleepy. He comes to a den and no bear is in it so it is ok to sleep in it. He comes to an abandon town. It look like it was a 100 years old. And smelled like fresh cow poop! Now he was not afraid, but he ran out of there so fast that the dust didn’t settle for 2 days. He found a little pond and then he rushed over became he was so thirsty and he drink half of the water. He saw a bush and it moved then it giggled and then he looked behind it and saw a little girl. The little girl was very pretty.  The little girls name was Amanda. She had brown hair, blue eyes, tan skin and a pretty white dress. She was getting weak so he gave her one of his apples. He decided to stay for a while. And the little girl soon grew into a woman. She came to him when he ever got sick. One day Amanda saw a very handsome man and his name was Aiden they as started to fall in love. But the stallion did not like that his friend stop spending time together he tried to stop them from falling in love. But he could not stop them. Soon they got married and they left him. A couple days later he found the grassiest piece of land ever and there was a lot of water. So he went back to get the other horse and the baby ate and drank a lot and everyone lived happily ever after.

Happy Birthday Jesus

On Christmas Eve I couldn’t sleep.  I tossed and I turned, but I couldn’t get to sleep.  I finally fell asleep around 11pm.  The next morning my sister and I woke up at 6:30am and we woke up our parents by shouting “Merry Christmas.”  They got out of bed and we unwrapped our presents.  When we were done they went back to bed.  But my sister and I stayed up and played.  Later, we went to my grandma’s house for dinner.  I made a sign for my room that says “HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS.”

BOOK REPORT

Standing in the Light: The Captive Diary of Catharine Carey Logan (Dear America)
by Mary Pope Osborne

This historical fiction book was about  a Quaker girl named Caty who lived in   Pennsylvania in 1763.  She was taken captive by the Lenape Native Americans and adopted by them.  She hated them in the beginning but she loved them by the end.  She was even going to marry one of them but some white people captured her and took her back to her family.  She had a difficult time readjusting to the white Quaker world again.

My favorite part of the the story was when Caty and Snow Hunter fell in love.     He was kind and respectful to her.  Her most treasured possesion in captivity was her diary and when she ran out of ink she thought she would lose herself, but Snow Hunter secretly made her some ink out of coal and water.  I think it's the best book I've ever read.

Raechel and the Horse

Raechel and the Horse

Written by Shaleigh Tolbert

September 6, 2006

One day, Raechel was out doing her chores and she heard a noise behind some apple trees.  She walked to the trees to see what it was.  When she looked behind the trees she saw a strong white horse.  It was a mare.  Raechel picked an apple and gave it to the horse.  Then she went inside and asked her mom if she could keep the horse.  Raechel’s mom said yes.  Raechel got a rope and tied it around the horse’s neck.  She brought her to the barn and gave the mare some hay and oats.  Then she had to go to bed.

The next morning she woke up early.  She ate and got dressed faster than ever because she couldn’t wait to start training the horse.  It took her six months to train the horse she named Prancing Princess.

Prancing Princess could rear up on her two hind legs.  When Raechel whistled the mare came to her.  They were riding through a meadow when one of Raechel’s friends came by.  Her name was Nicole.  Nicole asked Raechel if they could race their horses.  Raechel said yes.  Nicole said, “On your mark, get set, go!”

And they were off in a flash.  Nicole almost won, but at the last minute Prancing Princess picked up speed and she won the race for Raechel.

The End

summer's almost over

Last Saturday I went to see Shakepeare's "Taming of the Shrew" in a really pretty park.  My mom said I could get married there someday.  They also have a rose garden and when we left we saw a bride about to get her pictures taken.

The play was a comedy, but I didn't get it too much.  My mom said it was funny to her.  I got a free friendship bracelet and got to blow bubbles in the kid's section.

I've been busy...

Last Tuesday I went to my first girl's club at church.  It was lots of fun, my sister came too.  She got a boo boo on her foot.  We memorized a scripture, we danced to Christian music, we learned about David and we made a craft.

We've been going to the pool alot and now I can swim by myself but I can't go really far yet.

We went to a thrift store and I bought a cut little white and pink cradle for my baby doll.

Friday night we stayed up late to see fireworks and we saw a huge bug, my mom thinks it was a cicada.

Saturday we were at Walmart and a huge huge storm hit.  The power went out and they made us leave.  But they let us buy what we had in our carts.  When the storm was over there was water covering the entrance and exit so they had to push out the water with brooms.  A lot of trees near us fell down and some were hit by lighting.  Our apartments lost power for 11 hours and we took our groceries to our Nana's house and stayed overnight.

The Dream

Last night I had the best dream ever. It started out with an older boy and a horse, a beautiful horse.  It had glitter on it's eyelids and wings.  It was a white beautiful horse.  The boy told me to get on the horse.  I got on the horse and horse started to fly faster and faster.  The next day it was the same thing.  Everyday I rode the horse.  Then a woman and a man came and they wanted to steal my horse.  I tried to stop them and they threatened to give me a paper cut.  Then I ran and saw my great-grandparents.  Then I ran and started crying and I woke up in my dream and I was at my great-grandparents house.  Then I woke up for real.

Saturday my dad took my training wheels off my bike and I rode a two-wheeler for the first time ever!

Weekend at Hull-O Farms!

We left for the farm before 7am on Saturday and we got there around 10:15am.  My Aunt and Uncle's Farm is very big and it's in Durham, NY.  I was in a big hurry to get out of the car and go see everybody and I accidentally slammed two of my fingers in the car door.  It hurt really bad!

My cousin Jason, who was getting married that day, is an EMT.  That means he drives the ambulance and helps people who get hurt before the go to the hospital.  He checked my fingers out and they were both bleeding and sore but not broken.  Then he gave me two cool bandaids and put some medicine on them.

I wanted to go outside and look for kittens and bunnies but it was raining and had been raining for a long time and everything was muddy and my mom didn't want me to get dirty before the wedding.

We went to the wedding and it was really fancy.  My sister and I danced to some Irish music and it was really fun!  My mom bought my sister and I disposable cameras and we took pictures at the wedding and at the farm!

On Sunday my Aunt made us Mickey Mouse pancakes with MM's and whip cream!  And I finally got to see and hold some kittens and a bunny.  I also got to see ponies, cows, goats, piglets, dogs, chickens, turkeys and pheasants.  I held a really sweet baby bunny and I named her Cleopatra because she looked like someone put Egyptian makeup around her eyes.  She was mostly white, with brown on her feet, and the black around her eyes and a little bit on the end of her ears.  She peed on my coat but I didn't even care.  When we had to leave I was sad.

My mom hasn't figured out how to post a picture yet, if you know how can some one please tell me.  I'd like to post a pic of Cleopatra and me.  If you want to see my Aunt and Uncle's farm you can go to www.hull-o.com

It makes a great vacation, I wish I could stay all year round!

~Thanks for reading~

Nana's (my great-grandmother) Biography: Ruth Hannah Decker

My Nana was born in Scranton, PA on July 9, 1925. Her mother named her after her sister Ruth Hannah Kellerman James. Roller skating, sledding, and drinking hot cocoa on cold days were her favorite things to do as a young girl. Her best friend's name was Jean Fullerton. She did not like school, especially gym class.

She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she was about 8 years old. Her favorite hymn is "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Her favorite Scripture is Phillipians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". She loves that Jesus is always waiting for her to call upon Him. She looks forward to seeing Jesus face to face, to be able to sing His praise with a beautiful voice, and to see her parents and grandparents she never knew.

I love when my Nana paints my fingernails and when she lets me play in her soapy dishwater. She never gets angry with me and she gives the best back scratches. She makes the best pot roast ever. I love everything about my Nana.

Forest Tent caterpillar

Saturday we went on a walk and we saw 21 tent catapillars walking like the were in a parade.  Sunday they were on the front page of our newspaper because they are invading our area.  On Monday, at my Nana and Papa's house, we played with water balloons in their backyard on the deck.  And we saw tons of tent catapillars climbing up their house, but only in the back yard!  So Papa smashed them with a broom and swept them off.  The newspaper said they are hard to get rid of.  At dusk they group together like a circle.  That's why they are called tent catapillars.  They don't turn into butterflies they turn into moths in late June.

Horse Show

Friday and Saturday we went to the New York State Horse Breeders show, you wouldn't believe your eyes.  We saw Morgans, Arabians, Saddlebreds, Paso Finos, Welch ponies and one Fjord!  Watching the Paso Finos I think was my favorite part.  They take little steps and it looks really cute.  It almost looks like they are doing ballet.  Paso Fino is spanish for little steps and they came from Spain.

My Story

Gina and Cuddles

by Shaleigh Tolbert

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Gina. One Saturday, she got bored of playing with her friends. So she decided to ask her mom to get a puppy. She said no. Gina was sad. She decided to go play in the park.

While she was swinging on the swings, a dog came up to her. She got off the swing and very gently pet the dog. She decided to bring him home. When she got home, her mother was mad at first. Later her mom said, "You can keep the dog if you take responsibility for it."

A few weeks later she decided to name the dog Cuddles. Everyday Cuddles learned new tricks. One day, Gina took Cuddles for a walk to the park. She let him off his leash to play with doggie friends. When it was time for them to go, Cuddles was gone!

Gina ran home and told her mom. She said, "Call the police." She hoped they could find Cuddles.

A week later, they got a call, they found Cuddles. Gina ran to the police station and asked for Cuddles. One of the policeman brought him out. The policeman said that Cuddles got confused in the park. Gina put the leash on Cuddles and they walked home.

The End

Sign Language

My mom is teaching me some sign language.  I would like to learn how to sign to music and we are both learning together.  We just started working on the chorus of a song I like called "Praise You in this Storm" by Casting Crowns.  This is the part of the chorus that we started working on:

I'll praise You in this storm

And I will lift my hands

For You are who you are

                 No matter where I am

                 Every tear I've cried

                You hold in Your hand

And though my heart is torn

I will praise you in this storm

Thanks for reading.

Mouse trap

My cat has long silver fur.  She is almost 3 years old.  I would like to tell you a story about my cat.  We used to live in an apartment where we had mice that would come in through the stove.  My mom and dad had just bought those sticky mouse traps and they were opening them up and trying to decide where to put them.  My cat, Dapne, jumped up on to the stove where they put one and she got it stuck to her back paw.  My mom got scared and got the stuff off of her but she was still kinda sticky.  And my cat walked around shaking her back leg over and over again because she was trying to get the sticky stuff off.  It was really, really, really funny.

My First Blog

When my mom told me that I could get my own blog I was so surprised. Do you know why I named my blog Bunny School?  Because I like bunnies!!!!!!!

The first time I ever held a bunny was at my Aunt Sherry's farm.  She has lots of baby bunnies.  The mother bunny was huge.  I wish my mom would get me a bunny.  But we live in an apartment and we have a cat named Daphne.  We used to have a guinea pig but my mom was allergic to the bedding or the hay it ate so we had to give it back.  I didn't want to give him back because I didn't get to have him for a long time.

I would like to have a penpal.  If you are a girl and around 8 years old let me know if we can exchange addresses.  Besides bunnies, I like horses, cats, music,

singing, dancing, running, riding my bike, making pottery, painting, reading, acting out my history lessons, eating good and bad food and helping my mom cook.

Thanks for reading!
