I received this in my email this morning and thought it was worth sharing. I definitely feel the same way, how bout you?
Christians
by
Maya Angelou
"A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
that a man should have to seek Him first to find her."
When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'"
I'm whispering "I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven."
When I say... "I am a Christian" I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... "I am a Christian" I still feel the sting of pain..
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!
Be blessed,
Stacy

Love the poem. I'm going to post this on my blog if you don't mind. I believe I've heard this before....can't remember if it was by email or how.

Stacy, thank you for the reminder of what it means to be a Christian. It is so easy to think that we are something special but it is only through God's grace and Christ's sacrifice that we are who we are.
Blessings,
Tammy :-)

Aug. 21, 2008 - love your blog but...
I was just sent this poem in an email but I read on snopes.com that it wasn't written by Maya Angelou but rather Carol Wimmer and you can find the history of the poem and the original poem, this one posted is not correct... at www.carolwimmer.com
it's one of my favorite poems...
God bless,
Jenny
