Hi! I hope you will take a moment to stop over at Homeschooling Is Life on the Front Porch. I will have a new post there, tomorrow (or actually, late tonight because that Nancy Carter is really on the ball!) on the topic of un-schoolers and dis-organization.
Don't forget that by using the term "unschooler" we (I) have allowed myself to jump smack dab in the middle of a huge mostly negative argument about how horrible and stupid unschoolers are. You see, we are a misaligned bunch. Misaligned, and misunderstood. Many folks out there think that if we call ourselves "unschoolers" that we do nothing, know nothing and are really dumb. I hope someday we can get past the labels.
We call ourselves un-schoolers, sometimes, because we are not trying to do institutional school to our children. Get it?
So if this has you a bit confused, just check out the archives of Thursday's front porch entries, and see what I mean. It's all about semantics.

So back to the topic of today. I mentioned "Flylady" on my post for this weeks front porch, along with several other organizational programs. If you are at all familiar with the Fly gal, she does something called the "Super Fling" where you post the pounds of clutter that you have decided to part with, and it helps people who are trying to get rid of excess---sort of like a cheerleading episode. "We are up to 34,009 pounds of junk! Yeah!" That sort of thing.
So while trying to get my kids to do the "fling, thing" I got the idea of this: what if I pay them by the pound for whatever I can convince them to part with!? I thought it was a great idea.
I decided to pay them .50 per lb. of stuff.
They filled bags, and bags, and bags...............
Now I am going to have to ask for alms to pay them off!!!
I guess they will do ANYthing, for a little $$$. Sigh.
I might have to take out a loan to pay these kids off! Gee, where are all the rich relatives when you need them!?
Homeschooling is Life,
and this un-schooler is not only dis-organized, she's broke!
