Homeschooling Is Life! - The Smokies ain't got nothin' on the Rockies!

• Sep. 16, 2006 - The Smokies ain't got nothin' on the Rockies!

You folks from Tennessee are always bragg'in on how beautiful it is out there, but I can't say that I am convinced.  I know, I have seen photos and some are sure purdy!  :) Someday I will get over there to check out those hills myself!

But today, we took a trip up into the Rocky Mountains, and it was bea-u-ti-ful!  The leaves were a'turnin, and the varmints were out in force.  Just in  time for bow-hunting season!  (we saw a few of 'em out there, we think)  Anyway, we don't bow-hunt (yet) but we might have to because by the time rifle season gets here it is SO cold.  And all the leaves have fallen, and it is pretty near brown all over.....but still, there is no place like Colorado, no matter what the season it is.  Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring, silly! I wasn't talking about hunting seasons.....heh heh.

Take a look at this:

I did not mess with the color at all on this one!!

 Pure, natural Colorado Color.

And as we came around a bend, I saw these antlers back in the trees.  There were actually three of them, but one was just out of the photo on the left.  Three bucks just hanging out together.....really weird.  A little male bonding going on out in the woods?  Hmm....sounds like the hunters and the hunted are pretty predictable.....shhhh!  Don't tell you-know-who that I said such a thing!

What a glorious day!

Have a blessed Sunday,

Nancy

I think the Pacific Northwest is the most beautiful place I've ever been. We have the ocean....na,na,na. Plus all those mountains and rivers and things. :)

Great pictures BTW

We just got back from spending the weekend in Estes Park. It snowed, which was wonderful! We saw plenty of Elk due to rutting season. =)
It was a 'drooling' experience to see all them Elk! LOL

I think I'll get out this week to see more aspens too!

I'll be sharing some pics on my blog later when I get the chance. =)

My dad used to bow-hunt too and enjoyed it!

Hugs,
Dianna

How beautiful is that!!! Just gorgeous Nancy! As we were driving up to NC on Monday afternoon - we were awed by the Blue Ridge Mountains - the guys and I said nearly in harmony - "Can you imagine what the Rocky Mountains must look like to drive through........"

God's creation never ceases to amaze me and hold me in awe!

Thanks for stopping by at Gnat Line - it was good to hear from you ~
love,
Harriette

p.s. Come on down - you're welcome at the Farm anytime!

I have been through both mountain ranges and I prefer the Smokeys for the deeper lusher green colors. It seems magical in them. The rockies are rigid and dry. That is only my opinion BUT both sets of mountains are an awesome creation from God, and both different for each one of our tastes. So cool.

Well, being one of those Tennessee Smoky Mountain people, I do love our mountains. However, I do know they are but a shadow of the mountains out there, at least in size. We are drooling to come out west for a visit. Maybe one of these days. My guess would be that each has it's own unique beauty. Of course, a white sandy beach would be pretty nifty to live on, too!

About Me

Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 17, 14, 12 and 10 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
