• Oct. 15, 2006 - Fall is so lovely......

Our Autumn Purple Ash was so pretty about a week ago.....now, the leaves are all on the ground.  Very sad, but at least the flowers are still blooming......

We have seen several butterflies around.....and this one was so pretty.  This is for you Ali!

You always love the butterfly photos so here is another one to enjoy. Can anyone tell me what it is?  I already know, but this is a contest of sorts.  I would love to have someone I.D. it.

Blessings!!

Nancy

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I feel as though I've been away forever but life is so busy lately--no excuse for not saying hello to my friend now and then!

I miss ya!

Wow - who knew there were so many species?!?!

My "guess" is:
Northwestern Fritillary
(Speyeria hesperis)

Family: Brush-footed Butterflies (Nymphalidae)

Subfamily: Longwings (Heliconiinae)

www.butterfliesandmoths.org is a great site, in case you have never seen it!

In Christ alone,
Kari

Have a blessed day!

What beautiful pictures! I absolutely love fall color!
Hmm, I should get a better butterfly book, that one doesn't seem to be in my Petersoon Field Guide Coloring Book! But it's oh so pretty, as is the flower it's sitting on! We have no flowers left here... well, I've spotted a few fall mums, but not in my yard!
Enjoy the fall weather,
Have a good one,
hang in there,
enjoy them,

Since it wasn't in my coloring book, I tried to do a little hunting... wow, the list of butterflies and moths for Colorado is huge! You are so lucky to have such a variety around! I am really going to have to be on the lookout more next summer, there have got to be more than Monarchs and Viceroys in Minnesota... Look what you'ver started in me! Ha, maybe I can get my kids to catch the fever next spring and we can make a project of planting a butterflyl garden! I did manage to divide my orange lillies and spread them out a bit, do butterflies like lillies? That and hummingbirds have become my recent fascinations. We've only had our first taste of flurries and already I can't wait for next spring!
It's going to be a long winter...

later,
have a good one, no- have a great one!

What beautiful photos. That looks like a fritillary on a gallardia blossom??? I only know these because of my MIL who has spent the last 20 years educating me on such beautiful creations of God.

What beautiful photos! It was so great "talking" with you by email. Strange how you're from this area and I'm from your area. :o) I enjoyed looking at all the pictures - except the snake - could do without the snake. I've only seen about 5 snakes in all the years I've lived here and have never seen a rattler, even though I know they are around this area. Hope it stays that way! LOL Take care and God bless!!

This picture is so pretty that I would have it framed and hang it in my kitchen.

About Me

Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 16, 13, 11 and 9 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
