I haven't ever tried this, but I wanted to put together a slide show of some of our projects and ribbons! We did really well in the baked goods and the creative arts again this year. My oldest got first place on her bread, chocolate mint cookies and German chocolate cake! Son got first on his apple pie, and my boys both won the cookie jar contest in their age division. (Not much competition this year, but they made awesome cookie jars!

Youngest son got 2nd place on his cherry pie, and daughter, 3rd on her sugar cookies. I can't remember all of them, they had several other varieties of cookies that won second or third also.

I tried to do a slide show, but then decided this was easier. You should be able to click on these if you would like to see them larger!

You all did such a great job. I really enjoyed looking at all your entries at the fair. Maybe we'll enter something in the Open division next year. I'm hoping they'll have a Gluten Free division next year. Congrats again to all.

What creative hardworking kids you have! I know that represents A LOT of work!! And I especially like the photograph of Essie. It is absolutely GORGEOUS!

Oh, and yes I got your ebook and it's wonderful. I wanted to print it so I could "study" it better, but I was out of ink. (Isn't that always the way?!) We just got some ink the other day though so I'll get on it ASAP and post my review. :O)

We really had fun and it was rewarding in many ways! We learned a lot too---like, we need to start earlier for next year. We actually just got back from picking up our projects and getting our premiums! I found out that there were over 700 entries. We earned $100 combined on all of our ribbons, plus the two boys each got a $25 prize on their winning cookie jars.
Once you figure in gas (it's at leat a 40 minute drive to the fairgrounds from home) at 4 round trips, fair entry on "dollar day" plus one ride ($$$) it adds up quickly. Then there was our baking supplies, material, fimo clay, frames and mats (from the thrift stores) photo paper, ink, watercolor paper, etc, etc., we probably didn't really get too much ahead. But it is much more than monetary gain that we were working for. In fact, last year the premiums really surprised us! We forgot all about that.

I might have to write more about all we learned by doing this. It certainly is a fun way to present projects, and being hopeful for a ribbon or two is a lesson in patience and humility!

Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 16, 13, 11 and 9 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
