Actually, I think Cherrie's Jubilee involves flammable liquid, but in any case......

There was a knock on my door today and there stood a neighbor from two houses up. Their sour cherry tree is ready to pick, but they are too busy and would my kids like to come up? They can pick all of them. Wow!

So of course, my kids had to don their overalls and cowboy hats, and armed with plastic easter buckets and baskets......we went and stripped the beautiful tree of every cherry we could find. SO, now the question is:

Anybody out there have any great recipes for me? You know I am not the cook of the house!

OK, ok, I know it isn't Frugal Friday yet, but I am not sure how long these little guys will last......and I don't have a cherry pitter....do I need one? A little help from my friends?

i so wish i could be there. i love that sort of thing. save some cherries for when i come to visit. maybe a pie after church?????

We picked our cherries in KY right around Memorial Day. You can find that in my blog archives. Our cherries are tart so we soak them overnight with sugar after we pit them. We didn't use any special gadgets to pit them, we just squeeze the pit out. Wasn't too hard, but it can make your wrists tired! I posted a quick cobbler recipe on my blog at http://homeschoolblogger.com/tn3jcarter/3759/. That's always the first thing we do with our cherries. Hope you all have a great time and enjoy.

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 16, 13, 11 and 9 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
