• Oct. 31, 2007 - There are a lot of hurting Moms out there

I have been reading blog entries here and there, and have found some really desperate ladies out there.  I can feel their pain!  I have been desperate too.  It comes with the territory!

This morning I had a long discussion with a dear loved one about desperation.  She knows the truth, Loves the Lord and wants to live a Christ-like life, but there is a lot of hurting out there.

Her struggle is with sin, and she asked me "if Christ died for all my sins, past present and future, then why am I still sinning?  He died for those sins, so it seems like I don't have any choice in the matter if He already knew about those sins.  He died for them, so I guess I just have to sin anyway.  He KNEW I would sin because He died for my future sins.  I feel like I am destined to sin and don't have any choice in the matter."

Wow.  How to answer that?

Well, God knew, yes He knew we would continue to sin even though He died for those sins.  I started thinking about it.  Yesterdays sins are gone, remembered no more by our Lord.  He knows our nature!  But He also wants us to trust him for everything.

 Seek Him First.

The Bible says that TODAY is the day of  Salvation.

He wants to save us from our sins, today.

We can turn to Him for strength and help today.

THIS is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Don't wait until tomorrow.  TODAY.  This is what we have, today.

If we "blow it" today, His mercies are new every morning.  We start over.

 THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

There are so many times we all feel so despondent!  We get that "sinking feeling"  kind of like Peter, right?  When he was walking on the water and he took his eyes off the Lord, he started to sink.  Are you sinking?  Where are your eyes?  What are you focusing on?

Focus on the Lord, and He will save you!

Do you feel the sand being washed out beneath your feet?  Are you falling??  Get your feet back up on the rock, THE ROCK.  You know who the rock is!

Are you worried about "global warming?"  The Lord would rather you not worry about that, He's in charge.  Keep your eyes on Him and don't be lukewarm.  Being lukewarm is a whole lot more serious of a condition than the so called global warming crisis.

Ok, so my sermon is about to come to an end.  (This too shall pass!  LOL)

Friends, I want to challenge you.  Blogging is fun.  Cyberfriends are great!  But many times I find ladies here on HSB who are burned out, depressed, stressed and desperate.

Please pray for your blogging buddies and encourage them to Look To The Lord.

Encourage them with God's Word and not your own opinions.  (been there done that, ouch.)  Reach out to those who need to know that God is here, Emmanuel.  Right here with us.  And with Him on our side, we are more than conquerors!!!

Running the race, trusting daily,

seeking HIS face, accepting His mercy and grace,

Nancy

What a great post.

I think sometimes we can get down in the muck with each other and forget that we are supposed to be encouraging each other to get out - not stay around in it.

What a great post.

Great post! As someone who struggled badly at one time in my life, despising my own weakness, many years ago now, I can relate. I never stopped asking Him to strengthen me and change me, and He did lift me onto higher ground. There were a few things I had to do. Stay in His Word. Stay very far from the edge, removing myself from any situation in the areas I struggled in; find strong Christians to hold myself accountable to; look to spiritually strong women as models for my life. If I could not seem to get anything out of the Word, I'd often pick up a hymnal - "My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ the Solid Rock I stand! All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace. In every high and stormy gale my anchor holds within the veil -

Oh, so many great verses in that hymn. It will be totally in my head all day now.

Look at this, I just stopped by to say thanks for your comments, and I practically wrote a whole blog post in my comment.

God bless -
Deb

Thank you for this excellent post. We all need to pray for each other and lift each other up to the Lord. He is good and He will work all things for the good of those who love him.
I love the pictures you have in the post below. I love autumn. I pray all goes well with the art opening.
I just wanted to let you know that I posted a contest on my blog. Come on over and check it out when you have a minute. I would love to have you enter.

Wow. What an excellent post. I just wrote about HSB, and how a lot of kids are calling it a popularity contest, when they should be focusing on encouraging their fellowship sister/brother in Christ.

I hope we can all remeber to lift one another up, instead of lifting ourselfs.

Love,
Jocelyn

As a counselor myself, I know of precisely what you speak. We have many encouraging articles on a website for women in the same situation as you tell about here. It is: www.titus2menandwomen.org
Sometimes we women just need someone with 'skin on', preferably right in front of us, to just 'be there'. Prayer is so needed. We will be praying for fellow bloggers.

So true. With the job situation we are going through an intense time of leaning on the Lord and not giving in to worry. He is blessing our desire to trust Him, and I pray I continue to lean on Him for the strength should it continue! It seems to me that, as you said, there are a lot of homeschool moms burning out. I believe sometimes that comes from setting up their own expectations of what homemaking and schooling should look like, instead of really searching for what God's expectations are. It's my personal belief that some are putting words into God's mouth. I've been there. I hope I'm out of that place now!
I pray you all are hanging in there and being blessed. The weekend spot was gorgeous!

About Me

Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 16, 13, 11 and 9 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
