• Oct. 22, 2008 - Introducing Candy Foote, and a contest for you!

I don't know exactly why, but I just love Candy Foote's name!  When I first met her on HSB a long time ago, I just thought she had the neatest name.  CandyFoote.  I guess it's the sweet tooth in me!  Anyway, Candy is a homeschooling Mom of...12!  Remember that story, "Cheaper By the Dozen?"  Well, we will have to ask her if that is really true!

I asked Candy to tell me a bit about herself, and here is what she said:

I'm a homesteading, homeschooling,
Christian momma of twelve children.
All from one momma - all from one daddy!
My desire is for people to truly know the Word of God.
I have put these books together so that people can know what God has to say on these topics.  Everyone has opinions.
We don't need that!  We need His opinions!!!

As you can tell, Candy has a heart for God, and she is allowing me to hold a contest to give away one of her eBooks that she has written.  Here are the choices you will get to pick from, if you are the winner.
Please leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite book of the Bible is, and why.  I'll pick a winner on the 31stAnd please tell your friends, ok?
I also want to take a moment to tell Candy "thank you!" for hosting a contest on her blog and giving away a free eBook of mine.  It is so fun to do that!!  Thank you all who participated.  I decided that since money is tight for a lot of us out there, that I would discount both of my eBooks for the next month or so.  Both "Haircuts For Little Men" and "Homeschooling is Our Life" are now only $9.99 each!
How cool is that?
You can purchase them at www.nancybaetz.com
Thanks for your friendship and support!

Hmmm..I tihnk I would have to say Psalms is my fave b/c David shows life is real and that you can love God more than anything and still struggle on a day to day basis with joy, peace, sin and everything else. I would love to have on of Candy's books.

Also, I wanted to let you know that I tagged you. please, dont feel obligated or anything but if you are interested check out the rules at my blog :)

My favorite book of the bible.... I LOVE Paul's writing. All of them. They are applicable to me. He is real. He has good days and bad. He is encouraging and correcting. I like Philipians, but I like Ephesians too. I just like Paul. When I was little I remember thinking that if he was alive today he would resemble a construction worker or lumberjack or truck driver... Something rough and tough and in your face....

My favorite book of the Bible is Psalms... and Isaiah. Am I allowed to say two books? Please!!!

The reason I love both of these books is that God spoke to me through both of them as we went through the hardest trial of our lives, living by faith and then losing our house and trying to find where God wants us to be. He sent us far from home. We were rejected and criticized by most people we knew, even our family, but God used these books to sustain me and let me know that He was with us and loved us.

That's why I have two favorite books!

Love,
Penney

My favorite book of the Bible would have to be Proverbs- there is just so much Wisdom to live by on every page in that book!
I've been trying to read a Proverb a day for some time- it's just so good... I have to remind myself to read elsewhere each day as well...

Enjoy them-

I have so many favorite books of the Bible, but I have to say, right now, my favorite is Nehemiah. It shows the heart of a man, who has never been to Jerusalem, but knows that this city belongs to the Lord. He goes to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls of the city so that the Temple of God will be safe again. I love that! He is so faithful to God even though he is in a very comfortable palace and has to go to a city where there is no protection and famine. I love his strength and stamina - it all comes from the Lord!

Thank you for entering me into your contest for the book by Candy Foote! I love her name, too!

God bless you ~ Julie

I don't know why but I am obsessed with Genesis. It has so much. There are so many "pictures" that the stories represent- like Adam is so much like Christ in giving himself for Eve... and so many lessons and questions... was Adam letting her choose whether or not to eat like Chist lets us choose to be saved or not, or maybe Adam is being a good example of a husband who does not control his wife even though she should submit... was he just a bad leader??? Then evolution is totally proved wrong by the creation story. I could go on and on... there is so much to learn from the stories.

Brings me the wisdom I need every time. It is light, refreshing and just enough to chew on in my sometimes hectic days.
Thank you for the great opportunity for even more great reading. I am sure anyone of these would be a great addition to ones library.

My fav book is now 2 Peter. Why? The first 15 verses seem to be a life verse for me now. How important it is to know God, to truly KNOW Him, and to be like Him. If I can instill that in myself AND most importantly my children, then I know that they will always make the right choices.

About Me

Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 17, 14, 12 and 10 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
