Homeschooling Is Life! - *Sigh* Someone's been on my case...

• Feb. 25, 2009 - *Sigh* Someone's been on my case...

---Because I haven't really been blogging much lately!  Shucks, I guess I better get back on the stick, so to speak.  My dear friend (who literally worships the gound I walk on....knock that off, would ya?) told me that I haven't been blogging.  She acted pretty upset.  So, not wanting to upset my one and only fan, here goes!

(I hope you all know I am joking around here..LOL!  I love you Paula!!)

To tell you the honest to Betsy truth here, my kids are doing such amazing things--besides the "driving me nuts" part, that I haven't had the heart to post anything!  Doesn't that sound ridiculous?  Well, they are completely blowing my unschooling boat out of the water, and I feel like I've been forced off the gangplank at the same time!  My oldest is doing some amazing writing and has a feature article coming up in the next Girhool Home Companion.  She is also teaching the younger kids algebra!  The nerve!!  The have been making these really cool lapbooks too.  They did "math vocabulary" lapbooks to go with their algebra class and my oldest son just finished another lapbook on Petrified Wood.

The girls both have Angora bunnies now, and just did their first "harvesting" of the wool.  It is very interesting to see them "pluck" the bunnies.  It doesn't hurt them at all.  I found a great video on Youtube that showed just how to do it.  We have one Satin Angora and two English Angoras.  All three were gifts!  Isn't God good?  I've got photos, but having trouble uploading them tonight.  Bah Humbug!

Speaking of spinning, our youngest son (10) is now spinning on a spinning wheel too!  I tell you, I never in a million years  tens of thousands of years thought that he'd ever be able to do something like that.  He loves to cook, he's into all kinds of boy things, but I never thought he'd pick up spinning.  Go figure!

My oldest son, who likes to sew costumes, has done a really cool "messenger belt" which is sorta in the genre of Robin Hood/Lord of the Rings--or some sort of fantasy thing.  I dunno.  I leave the room when that stuff comes up, I really DON'T like Hobbits and their kin.  (But I DO like humans who like hobbits, so now you know.)  Anyhoo, check out his cool belt.  It's some kind of naugahyde.  :)  Maybe it's hobbithyde.  I dunno about that either.

I know, it's sideways!  I can't get it to rotate on here.  Actually, it is photobucket's fault.  It keeps reverting back to sideways, even though I have it fixed in my album.  Just tilt your head to the left and it works.  (It works for me!)*

*now it is just squished!  It WAS sideways a few minutes ago.  Honest!  I wouldn't lie to you!!

Now before you get a kink in your neck, look at this pretty bouquet my  hubby bought me for Valentine's Day!

So....lets see...and here is a card my youngest daughter made for me:

I"ve got a great photo of a huge  taco salad that I made last week, really!  And some other fun photos.  But right now my family is hollering at me to join them for a family event---so I better get going.

Thanks for stopping by!

Nancy

Photobucket does the same thing to me sometimes. So glad to know I'm not alone in it's spitefulness! LOL.
Isn't that the proof of unschooling, though.....that they will learn it and be interested in so many things we wouldn't have imagined if we don't force it on them? And, we they want to know it, they own it. You've done a good job!

About Me

Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 17, 14, 12 and 10 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
