I'm so happy to see them.  Aren't these lovely?

We'll be making hollyhock dolls real soon!

Mine just started to bloom, too! I need to get some pictures taken. I think mine are the exact same color as yours!

Oh yes, hollyhock dolls are so fun to make, and they also make my imagination start to run. Little fairy people they are!

Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

Colorado is obviously getting more rain than Texas. They're gorgeous! I think my garden is going to be a bunch of twigs waiting to die a final death in winter. I'll have to do a bit of blog traveling to see great flowers. Thanks for sharing!

• Jan. 3, 2010 - when do you plant your seeds?

Posted by Anonymous
Dear Nancy,

It is great to have found your blog (via Breezy Tulip) as I have 'so connected' to your content and am a 'fellow' Coloradan-Mother. :)

So, we live up in the North Metro Denver area and I have wanted to plant & sucessfully grow hollyhocks for 11 years (our 13 y/o was 2 when I first started collecting seeds from my neighbors).

Have you any tips? And, when do you plant your seeds?

thankful to be walking in His Amazing Grace,

HveHope -:ฆ:-

So nice to meet you! We've had very good success here in CO with our hollyhocks. It's not too late to plant right now, if you can find a spot of ground that isn't frozen solid. Or you can wait until you can work the soil. Hollyhocks need to "freeze" before you plant them. Then they will grow successfully. At least that is what I've always thought.

We love our hollyhocks! They are so tall and colorful and beautiful. I've enjoyed them every year.

Thanks for stopping by via Breezy! It is so nice to meet you.

About Me

Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 17, 14, 12 and 10 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.

Remembering Grandma Abbott
