Hi again! I need some help, tell me your favorite Revolutionary War resources and why you liked them. Also, what is your personal opinion on the Revolutionary War? I had a very thought provoking discussion recently about the motives and methods of the Founding Fathers. What about Biblical mandates.....were they submitting to the authorities placed over them by God----?
I am really hoping for some lively "blogging" on the subject!
I guess this isn't exactly a resource, but we read "Johnny Tremain" aloud together this year as we were studying the Revolutionary War and loved it. We did an "ABC" scrapbook of the Revolutionary War (thanks to a wonderful workshop by Maggie Hogan that I took at the state convention in May). The girls did a page for every letter of the alphabet. It was a fantastic review and they really "got into it". There are many online sites that we got a lot of information, pictures, and movie clips from. I'm not American, and a lot of the history we studied was new to me. I honestly found it deeply moving. Eleanor
My favorite sources to learn more about the Revolutionary War are:
America: First 350 Years, by Steve Wilkins (cassettes/cd and notebook)
Revolutions That Never Were, by Doug Wilson, Steve Wilkins and maybe someone else (I can't find this cd series right now...must still be packed) - compares the differences between the two wars
My husband speaks at homeschool conferences about the Revolutionary War and the War Between the States. His workshop is title Un-Revisionist History and usually gets people's attention since it is a bit un-politically correct. Most of his information comes from the sources listed above.
When I listened to these lectures, I began to re-think my view of American history.
since we studied the Revolutionary War but we will begin again in the fall. Hopefully you will get some great info from others and I can glean from it too! *wink* I know we are going to use George Washington's World by Foster.
I have a question for you...how do you get your Friends posts to show who posted which items? Mine doesn't show one person different from another...thanks!
Welcome to my blog. How nice of you to drop in.
What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.
Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!
Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)
I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents.
But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!
We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 16, 13, 11 and 9 years old.
We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them!
We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
