Hello friends,
I wrote an entry about the circumstances of diabetes in our family last fall. I was really hurting then and poured out my heart to my dear homeschool blogger friends. And you know what? I got some wonderful cyberhugs and some great information and encouragement! It really helped.
A few years back, after our son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, I started a email group for prayer and encouragement. There are several ladies I have met locally who are dealing with the same things. We went to our hospital's diabetes support group, but it seemed that most were public school families, and we didn't really seem to fit real well, although they were mostly kind, we just didn't click with anyone. Most of our "friends" have been word of mouth introductions in the homeschooling community here.
In the Summer of 03, I think, our family was featured in "Show and Tell" in TOS magazine. I mentioned there that I had started the email group and I was so excited when a couple of ladies joined us! Our group is only about a dozen or so families, and we don't generate a lot of mail, but it's just nice to know there are friends dealing with some of the same things, and that they are there to pray for you, with you, and give you encouragement "with skin on."
I decided to put a button for the group on my sidebar---just incase somebody out there might like to join us, some mom or dad or even a kid out there on HSB who has Juvenile Diabetes and wants to join us. So look over to the side and see the "HomeSweetKids" link, and if that describes you, feel free to join us!
It is a tough row to hoe, but God is helping us get through this, day by day. And I am very happy that we are right here at home with our son, helping him to learn to stay healthy against all odds!
Blessings,
