• Oct. 30, 2007 - It's that time of the year.....and how to make Chai!

Blog Widget by LinkWithin

When cats just want to hang out by the window and be lazy......

And Moms just want to hang out by the lake and take photos................

Sigh!  Fall is in the air!  If it is nice outside, we are going to be there......

And if it is cold outside, we are going to be inside, by the fireplace, enjoying the crackling blaze.

Here is a recipe for you.  Chai!

My friend Pram, from India, makes this and it is oohh soo good!

First, make some black tea. She makes hers in a big pot.  Then add some cardamom and let that simmer for awhile.  I add cinnamon sticks, and you can add ginger if you want to.  Cloves work too.  But just use what you have.  Then add sugar to taste, and milk.

Strain out all the spices....serve hot!

Yum....enjoy!

Nancy

p.s. Please pray for our art opening that is happening THIS Thursday evening!  We have over 125 pieces of art by homeschoolers that we are exhibiting at a library branch here.  We are so happy!!!

I guess some folks have already seen this on the big screen, since the Suarez' family has been showing it at their speaking tours.  I just saw it for the first time today and was very blessed by it!  It turned out very nicely, and was so happy to have been able to contribute 3 of my photographs.  (Not bragging, no, not bragging.....just stating a fact.)

Let me know what you think!

• Nov. 25, 2006 - Giving Thanks and Snowflakes

Blog Widget by LinkWithin

It has been beautiful weather here, (no snow right now) and we had a lovely Thanksgiving with friends.  I have a great photo to share of that and hope to post it soon, after I get permission :)

On the Company Porch this week, Michelle posted a great collection of links and things all about snowflakes.  Here it is.  Last December, I posted a photo of my little darling's hair---with a very close up photo of a snowflake or two in it.  You can see it here.

Also, I remember there was a really beautiful snowflake craft that was over on Mamaduso's blog.  Here it is!  My daughter made some of these and gave them away as gifts.  She also made small ones for ornaments, or for necklaces.  How fun!

I hope you all are having a lovely post-Thanksgiving weekend, and are enjoying the peace that only God can bring.

Comfort, Joy and Blessings,

Nancy

• Jun. 14, 2006 - Something good to look at..........

Blog Widget by LinkWithin

Did you know that the Bible says the eye is the lamp of the whole body?  What we set our eyes upon changes our "inner being"---for want of a better word or two.  I think there is just a reason that God made so many beautiful flowers for us to look at.  They are so pleasing, so complex, so amazing.

I kind of think my kids are the same thing.....like little flowers.  Their sweet little faces looking up at you, bright smiles and beautiful eyes.  And so I just wanted to post a pretty for you........just to remind you of how amazing God is:

Can you find the bee in this one?  I just keep having good luck with these bees appearing in my photos..........

I think I know what this flower is, but if you know please enlighten me, ok???

Don't forget to read my front porch post on Thursday, ok?

• Dec. 18, 2005 - Check this out! This is a photo of a snowflake in my daughter's hair.

It is so cold here----oops, I am being SO redundant.  If you read my last post you know we are getting snow and it is very, very, brrrrrrrr.............cold.

We got inspired by Snowflake Bentley and these marvelous fluffy flakes were falling so we went out to catch some and I took this photo of some in my daughter's hair.  This is a bit blurry, but I sharpened it a little with my photo program.  I took it with my HP Photosmart digital camera.

Isn't God Amazing?

"May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, my rock, my fortress and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14

Did you read today about the "Judge" in California declaring that the Pledge of Allegiance is un-Constitutional in public schools?  How long will endure this kind of travesty?

Here is one headline:

Judge declares pledge unconstitutional

A judge rules reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools is unconstitutional, citing as precedent a case the Supreme Court dismissed in June.

Click on this link to read the story.

At first when we started homeschooling, many moons ago, I felt a little strange "acting" like a public school, standing and reciting The Pledge.  But now, is seems that our little homeschool is acting more like the public schools aught to be acting, and the sickness prevailing in the hearts and mind of a lot of renegade "Judges" needs to be cured.

Right after 9-11 we went out and bought us a flag pole and a a new "Old Glory" and put them out in the front yard.  We put out a spotlight so it could be illuminated at night.  I got a call from one of our neighbors late one night, but she wasn't complaining that the light was keeping her awake.  This was a military Momma, and she wanted to say that she saw it shining there out her window and was blessed, and wanted to say "Thank You."

This morning I found a really neat printable scroll of the Pledge on this neat website dedicated to Medal of Honor recipients.

Print one out for your homeschool!  It is beautiful.

That website has a lot of good looking info on the Pledge of Allegiance, and what it means.  Take a look.  I can't endorse the whole site, since I haven't had time to read it all.

And read this whole A.P. story, it has some good notes at the bottom, but once again, I can't say whether it is totally accurate.  Sounds like a homeschool research project to me.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, Each Other, and Our County,

Nancy

About Me

Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.
How nice of you to drop in. What is this all about you say? Well, take a look and see.

Just like the plants springing forth we are following the Son, soaking up the living water and pulling the weeds. We can't wait to see what will bloom THIS growing season!

Oh, and just for fun, I will tell you a little about me, since that is what this space is for. :)

I am a mother of four lovely kids who are perfectly human in every way. They are sinful, selfish, loving, happy, grumpy, excited, capable, frustratable, (I know, that isn't a word but sometimes I make up my own) and sometimes contrite, and just like their parents. But they are ours and we think they are all keepers!

We have homeschooled them all since birth with the trial and error method. I think they all have "made the grade" and they are now 17, 14, 12 and 10 years old.

We're not experts, except in the area of making mistakes and living to tell about them and hopefully learn from them! We hope you will find some encouragement here as you read about the seasons of our life as a homeschooling family.
