SWEDEN continued!

Posted in Holiday Happenins

Butterfly (10) made a beautiful Lucia Bride on Saturday!  Instead of Saffron Rolls, we made Maple Sticky Buns and served coffee & cocoa.  Since we don't know the "official" song, she sang "Away in a Manger" as she served first her Daddy, then her brothers, then her sisters and me.

For supper, we had Swedish Pancakes and Holiday Ham Balls.  Plus I surprised the girls with an authentic Swedish Angel Chime - they've always wanted to see one!

After supper, Butterfly, Bunny (8) and I bundled up and went to see a local living nativity presentation.  It was very well done!  Bunny especially loved the "cllamas" - the llama's dresssed to look like camels! LOL

Last night, we started a devotional (that should have been started 12/1!  Oops) called Looking Forward to Christmas: Family Devotions for the Season by Jon Farrar.  We'll be reading three entries each night instead of one.  There is a short Bible story, prayer and activity/discussion questions for each day.  We really like it!

Very light school this coming week - we're "visiting" countries that don't celebrate Christmas much and places in the US that are similar to CO with a few twists!

Peace to you,

Katie

sounds like a lot of fun. We celebrated St. Nicholas Day and St. Lucia Day, but we didn't do all of the countries you did. For our home school group, my two oldest (ages 8 and 6) did reports on Christmas customs in other countries. One picked Austria and the other Sweden. They learned lots, and improved their spelling (I hope), but I ended up getting sick and we couldn't attend the homeschool presentation/potluck Christmas party. I still need to have them present their projects for our family.

I think I might do what you did next year. I'll need to prepare in advance though. Anything that required prep this year almost always went by the way side. I've got six more weeks before I give birth to number five. Not as many as you, but maybe i'll catch up someday!
