A Different Perspective on New Year's Resolutions

Posted in Growing in the Lord

This was from our pastor's sermon this week.  I LOVED it!  So I'm snarking it for this blog entry.  It has become my NEW set of NYR!

10 New Year's Resolutions from Proverbs 3

1.  Do not let kindness and truth leave you. (v. 3-4)

2. Trust in the LORD with all your heart. (v. 5-6)

3. Do not be wise in your own eyes. (v. 7-8)

4. Honor the LORD from your wealth. (v. 9-10)

5. Do not reject the discipline of the LORD. (v. 11-12)

6. Seek diligently for wisdom and find it. (v.13-24)

7. Do not be afraid. (v. 25-26)

8. Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due. (v. 27-28)

9. Do not devise harm against your neighbor. (v. 29-30)

10. Do not envy a man of violence. (v. 31-32)

Not a bad list to strive for.  Especially since:

"Length of days and years of life

And peace they will add to you." (v. 2)

"You will find favor and good repute

In the sight of God and man." (v. 4)

"He will make your paths straight." (v. 6b)

"It will be healing to your body

And refreshment to your bones." (v. 8)

"Your barns will be filled with plenty

And your vats will overflow with new wine." (v. 10)

&etc.

Peace to you,

Katie
