Planning our year 2009-2010

Posted in Homeschool Hijinks

So here I sit, plugging assigments in to my Homeschool Tracker for first semester.  Wondering if we'll get it all done.  That's the trouble with schedules - I never get it all completed and then I FEEL behind.  Even though I know there IS no "behind".  But what's a gal to do?  With 9 dc and 3 dogs, if I don't plan SOMETHING, we may never get around to doing ANYTHING.

I am an unschooling wannabe.

Anyway, as I'm sitting here growling at my computer after I had to input the same thing FOUR TIMES because I can never get HT to DO what I want it to DO - I'm wondering what you all use for your records?  Do you use HTPlus?  Or Edu-Track or something I haven't heard of yet??  I'd love to hear pros & cons of homeschool scheduling programs!

I'm using Edutrack - or trying too. Frustrated with it too. It hast to be easier than it seems. I'm working on inputting last year's info as I didn't do it then - just to see if I can work out gpa and such for my oldest.

(((Katie))) Hope you get it worked out. I think I need to study the manual so I can figure mine out.

Love
Leslie

Dear Katie,

I only have 3 kids, not 9, but I write my lessons down in a teacher plan book in pencil, no dates. I write everything they do that is planned and add things that come up that are NOT planned. When the student completes the assignment and I have "graded" it, I place a red check beside it and date it. When I get time, I plan lessons ahead and don't date them, so if we have a 3 day school week or a 6 day school week, we just date it when we get to it. I keep these each year for the kids (just in case) in a small box. I've used it numerous times to refer back from one student to the other. I also log all field trips, library trips, educational videos/TV, Bible devotions & doctor/therapy appts. It takes a little more writing on my part, but I like the fact that I have a "hard copy" to be held in my hand and can take it with me when we travel.

I enjoyed reading your blog. I love Creation Camp week and might do the same thing. We love Answers In Genesis and will be going to the creation museum in October, so I'm thinking the week prior may be Creation Camp at the Causeys! Thanks for the wonderful idea!

Your family is lovely! Have a blessed day!

I pretty much do the same as Iadopted3. I also have the Home School Organizer by Gregg Harris, to keep track of "attendance", which is a requirement in our state.
