Scenes from Colorado

Here are some highlights from my trip to Colorado. I could easily become a Coloradoan (is that a word?). The pace of life seems a little more relaxed in general. Outdoor life is expected not the exception. The air is so clean...a little dry for my poor already dry skin, but so pure and fresh and clear. The sky seems like it's always blue...and it's so sunny! Seeing the ponderosa pines, blue spruce and oh, what was the other one??? I forget. Anyway, the red earth and log cabins in the mountains....I love the rugged majestic terrain. It's no wonder Katherine Lee Bates penned her famous "Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain. For purple mountains majesty above the fruited plains..." as she looked down from the summit of Pike's Peak.
My sister and cousin...with me in the middle.

Beautiful Spring Canyon near Mt. Princeton outside of Buena Vista.

I worked there for a summer in the mountains near Estes Park at a church camp. I had been to Colorado numerous times before to ski and go on family vacation...but to live there for 3 straight months...I was hooked! I would love to live there some day! Perhaps I'll get a chance to vacation with my hubby there sometime soon! Glad you had a wonderful time!!! Thanks for sharing the slice of heaven with us!

Thanks for sharing your pics - awesome! What a blessing to get away with your husband. Colorado really is beautiful. Before we moved to the other end of the state last year, we lived just several hours from Estes Park and made a trip there atleast once a year.

What a beautiful place! We did a fun little test once to see which US cities were a good match for us, and Colorado was the number 1 place. Maybe we should actually visit! I'm so happy to see you are back in the spirit.

It's been too long since I've been on homeschool blogger! Oh, I love the Colorado pictures. We went as a family a few years ago, and your pictures brought back memories. Isn't it beautiful?!! We need to go back someday. Your garden project pictures inspire me, too. Reminds me of my grandfather's garden. Our backyard is too shady for anything that big, but I do want to put out some tomatoes this year. Nothing beats the taste of home-grown tomatoes. Have fun with your garden!
