Noticing our Maker's artwork...

Posted in Growing with God

Outside...

So many of our mothering duties are in the indoor realm.  But my spirit is always refreshed when I go outdoors and take in God's creation.  Psalm 19 says,  "The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the works of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech.  Night after night they display knowledge."  When we gaze up close at the marvelous things he has created or listen to the sounds of the birds...we can sense the goodness of Him.  "And God looked at all he had made and said, 'It is very good.'"  Take your children out of doors today and have a nature scavenger hunt.  You could make a list of possible things to be sighted or found and let them check off the list.  Take a picnic blanket on the lawn and do your reading aloud with them.  Lie on the trampoline and watch the clouds together. Take your coffee out to the deck or porch during naptime and soak in God's Word or read a good book.  Enjoy Him!

I was just catching up on your blog :)
The pictures are beautiful and I loved your entry today.
It is a gift to be able to enjoy the outdoors with our children. We did spend a bit of time outdoors-- softball with other homeschoolers and playtime at the park nearby.
I'm going on the deck right now-- it's almost 7 pm because it is beautiful and cooler than in the house.
Blessings, Cheryl

I need to do that. I wil be taking the children into the Great Smoky Mountains soon. We'll have to do some sketching and maybe a scavenger hunt.
Thanks for sharing about God's precious creation.
Blessings,,

May. 5, 2006 - Beautiful Trees

Posted by sonshine4u

Our trees have been bursting with flowers this week. Today was one of the first days the kids could play outside without the threat of mud covering every inch of their body! I had to giggle at my silly kids today. I was hearing them playing as I was ironing. They were talking about all the lovely snow and look how it's snowing! I glanced up and looked out the window....what did I see? My two oldest in the tree shaking branches and watching the petals fall on their sister. She was twirling and giggling with delight at the beautiful "snow"! Too cute! We have difinitely been enjoying the outdoors! Happy spring! :)

His artwork is always fascinating and beautiful. I love the photo.
Thank you for visiting our new blog. My daughter and I are very excited about it.
You commented with a question. I wanted to welcome you to email me if you ever have a specific question.
I also hope to begin a resource list on our blog.
I think that so few of us were raised with the sole focus and purpose to become mothers and wives. That is my goal for my daughters... to prepare them to become the wives, mothers, Christian ladies that God wills them to be. The sooner I can begin teaching them what His Word says, the longer I have in training them. And so many things that I 'teach' them, I learn right along side them. I enjoy every moment of it and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Have a blessed weekend ~

May. 6, 2006 - All caught up...

Christa, I just enjoyed catching up on your blog. I hadn't visited since the Good Friday storm entry! I too, look forward to checking out everyone's site, but often put it off in order to not neglect my motherly and wifely duties....sometimes, I also do so grudgingly. But! You are absolutely correct in that God has called us to be those faithful servants and nothing is more important than doing His will. When will I learn to be selfless without resentment, though? Not even a tinge....hmmm...
I could almost SMELL that fresh air seeing those pictures of Colorado! God's country is beautiful. I found myself buying and planting annuals yesterday. Why? We are moving, we have other things to spend our money on, but there is something about being outside, diggin in the dirt, watching new flower buds form, listening to the birds, feeling the warmth of the sun on my back that completely soothes me. I appreciate that you have the insight to blog on the "positives" and your ability to wrap scripture around all that you do. I have so much growing to do, and you are someone who inspires me to do so! I'll have to be more efficient at MY laundry folding and carve out more time to read your blog!
By the way, Bette keeps asking to go to "Sophie's house." I think it is safe to say that she had a blast with her the other night!
